Re: Any chance of visa with police record

Hi Ben,

It seems that people have been granted visas with more serious convictions than that. If they were minor convictions, especially if you didn't have any jail time, I think you'll be okay....

Re: Help With Spouse Visa :)

Yup, that's basically what we said as well. We each talked about degrees and qualifications, as well as job prospects. We gave a detailed description of 'Plan A' (he will work at XYZ place doing...

Re: when to apply for the spouse visa

I am assuming that the Spouse visa and the Prospective Spouse visa are the same with regard to validation, if I am wrong, I am sure someone will correct me.

I was given six months from the date of...

Re: Q: No Further Stay on a tourist visa ....

I think I can clear up the main point of confusion here with one sentence: Australia is not Canada. If you remove any part of your argument that begins with,"But Canada allows...", there is little...

Re: Q: No Further Stay on a tourist visa ....

Paul, the No Further Stay condition exists for situations exactly like this one. Your mother is attempting to use a visitors visa to migrate to Australia. This is not the intention of DIMIA. If...

Re: "To provide English Language Support"

It's funny that you should stary a post about lingo, because I was wondering yesterday, when I first saw your username, what exactly a 'weetus' is. I meant to ask my (Australian) fiance last night,...

Re: spouse visa - please help

My fiance got this exact same letter. He wrote a one page letter stating what his job prospects are, and then he detailed a few alternatives, ie, "If Plan A doesn't work out, this is Plan B..." No...

Re: Friends.... Where are mine all going????

All this time I have been thinking that it has just been me, but I am glad to see that it is happening to other people as well.

My very best friend (since high school!) has stopped calling, and...

Re: Who's off to Melbourne Aug/Sept'05?

I will be arriving in East Brighton in Aug/Sept (as soon as my house sells). Very shortly thereafter, I will be headed to rural Victoria to settle for good.

Re: DeFacto visa: refusal on meds

It's hard to say without knowing exactly what the condition is, but it is unlikely that it will disqualify you from getting your visa. They are concerned with the amount of money that treatment may...

Re: Australia or America?

Yes, the defacto visa is ONLY for unmarried people. I am assuming that you have been living together since July. If so, that would mean that you could apply for the defacto visa in Australia in...

Re: Got it!

Thanks everyone. I still feel like I am walking on cloud 9. I am going to try to leave on August 27th, if my house has sold.

I can hardly wait!

Re: Australia or America?

As for the decision about where to live, that is something that only you and your fiance can answer. As an American migrating to Australia on a Prospective Spouse visa, I will try to answer some of...

Re: do they get your name

My real (given) name is Laura, so no problems there, aside from the occasional 'Lauren' confusion. I have been called Laurie my whole life though, which is apparently a boy's name in Australia. ...
