Re: Christmas cake essentials

Müller has some decent sized blocks of marzipan. In fact, their Christmas food aisle is very similar to an English aisle. Still no crackers though

Re: Now we are going to lose BBC sounds

I think it depends on the VPN. My iPlayer is still working with NordVPN on a Firestick.

Re: Best Spanish card for travel perks

Priority Pass is where they have applied the restriction. Amex used to offer 2x unlimited passes, now it's down to 20 visits for the primary cardholder and 10 for the supplemental. It's not a huge...

Re: Best Spanish card for travel perks

Did you see that from October AMEX restricted us to 20 visits per year and 10 for supplemental card holders? I just logged in and saw I only have 6 visits left until the end of the year. It's OK...

Re: Rain yesterday

Wow, I didn't even know it reached Gandia. Hope you're safe down there. Were they sending alerts there? Obviously no use if they're too late but trying to understand the system

Re: Rain yesterday

Just to debunk the myths, the Civil Protection alerts were coming thick and fast from Tuesday evening, I received the first one at 20:12. All phones were receiving them, even the foreign phones. On...

Re: Relocating to Valencia (region)

It's worth asking the schools and drill down on the intake year as it varies a lot. My son graduated from the British School of Valencia last year and the majority were Spanish, followed by Latin...

Re: Relocating to Valencia (region)

Just north of Valencia City you can find the corridor along the CV35 where there are lots of international schools with the amenities you describe, including the Metro.

In line with Steve and...

Re: Anti Tourism protests

No disruption at all at the airport as far as I could see.

Thankfully I missed the protest on Saturday but I agree with them. I have no issue with a family letting their spare room and guest...

Re: Anti Tourism protests

I'll be there this weekend and fly back on the day of the protest. I'll report back on the disruptions.... I'm sure it will be a handful of placards.

Re: Monthly costs

Just outside Valencia. I was comparing a 45/50 meal from 2020 that would now cost around 80. I’m not a huge fan of menu del dia but you can still get those for less than 15 per head. We went out...

Re: Monthly costs

To give you a rough idea based on a 320m house, 2 humans, 1 teen and a pool. Last year:
Electricity 1508
Water 420
Gas 1618 - A note on this, I had a 907 bill in March and then flipped to using...

Re: Best Spanish card for travel perks

I found car hire cover for 100 per year, which is one of the reasons I'm looking around. However, on my last claim they were very efficient.
I actually added up the benefits from last year and it...

Best Spanish card for travel perks

I'm doing my annual value check on subscriptions and getting lost on this one. Does anyone have any recommendations for credit cards with travel perks? I currently have the Amex Platinum which...

In 2022 that figure more than doubled. Note: I have no idea how reliable the source is.

Re: Fire in Valencia

It would be hard to deny the cladding played a huge part in this worse. The Tedi store below the apartments was renovated a couple of years ago and appears to be fine.

Re: Movistar/O2

I see Starlink is now down to 40/month or 50 including the equipment. Sounds like a good deal for those living outside of fibre enabled areas.

Re: PG Tips

Taj Mahal. Great place. The big Chinese supermarket next to the train station had some last time I went there and they have a great selection of spices, sauces and veg too.

Re: Gibraltar 2

I agree, I like it where it is. It's like checking up on an elderly neighbour. You sometimes forget they're there until they invite you in for a cup of tea and tell you their stories from when the...

Re: Spain clamping down on scooters

I wish they would ban them on the Valencia Metro too. The fires are only a part of it. Bashed ankles caused by the 'riders' shoving them under seats and blocking the doors are a huge problem.

In...
