Default PG Tips

Has they stopped selling them in your local Mercadona?

2 in my area and another 40km away are not stocking them anymore...

Pepco Alfafar is now my only choice for "english tea". Not a problem but I liked that the supermarket were an option with a decent price..

A while ago they seemed to disappear, then were back again but now seem to be unavailable again. I order from Mercadona on line so I thought that maybe they were in the shops but not on line. Mercadona used to sell Tetleys too but not for a very, very long time. On line they do not sell any other alternative so Amazon is my current port of call.

I have always bought my tea here in Spain from Pepco / Dealz - but now most of them do not have a food section...

Maybe mercadona were just using up their stocks since brexit?

That cant be right... 240 teabags for €22.99

We only pay €9.00 for that amount in Iceland Benidorm and I think thats expensive.
I usually wait for a deal and they drop the price to €7.50 which I still think is dear.

Be cheaper to drink Brandy...

I only buy loose tea; can't stand tea bags!
I buy a 1.5kg bag from an Indian/Pakistani shop. They always have a plentiful supply, including tea bags if you prefer.

Gave up UK brown tea years ago along with cow's milk and sugar. (But I will check my local Merca out of interest and report back)

This article appeared in the newsfeed on my browser a few weeks ago, saying that Mercadona were no longer going to be selling PG Tips or Tetleys teabags, amongst other things. A friend said last week she couldn't find any in Mercadona, which jogged my memory. We never bought them as we prefer Yorkshire tea, either buy a supply when I go to the UK or get them from a British shop down the coast where I have an order delivered from a couple of times a year.

Mercadona confirma la retirada de todos estos populares productos de sus supermercados - Los Replicantes

Quality of PG-Tips is terrible now anyway..more like dust. Can't even get 2 cups out of 1 bag.
Get a nice big bag of Yorkshire tea 240 bags..about the only one that still tastes real.

They have always been like that. I used to install machines in the factory in Manchester and every single piece of kit was covered in dust.
It gets everywhere and ruins bearings like you would not believe.

Although to be honest Typhoo which is bagged in Moreton is just as bad.
The cleanest plant has to be Taylor's in Harrogate.

Silly fact.. All machines destined for Tea Factories (well uk ones anyway) had to be painted a light green colour.

Living in North America I buy PGTips from Amazon, usually several boxes of 240. It is certainly cheaper than buying small boxes, from the few shops that sell them over here.

Dealz is actually Poundland so although not entirely about food it should still have a decent food section with all the usual suspects.

The only tea I get is from M&S when flying from the UK, and since it's quite light anyway I tend to bring a year's+ supply with me every time...

Likewise I'll load up on tea in other countries, such as Poland for mint tea or Singapore for jasmine/green/oolong/roast rice tea. Good thing I travel light so there's lots of space for shopping...
