I've no idea about the defacto visa but certainly for our visa, the fee is taken straight away and is non-refundable even of you are declined so its not an indication of whether you'll get it or not.

We used the Handsworth one in Birmingham and both nurses and doctors were great - the misses is terrified of needles and they handled it really well and gave her as much time as she needed her blood...

We got tired of waiting and so did our meds before the request (agent didnt see a problem). We think it might reduce the time by a few weeks (time taken to get the meds booked, get the bloodwork done...

I did pretty much the same thing which was just as well as the London High Commission contacted my the person who gave me the references (the HR dept) to confirm my references sometime ago - not sure...

I believe pre-July apps still send their medical forms to Adelaide (I certainly did) and post-July to Sydney. If you get the forms from DIMIA then they should be stamped with the correct address

I'm pretty sure you cant stay in Melbourne with a STNI or SIR visa. Probably best to go for a PR if heading to Sydney or Melbourne

I found www.jobnet.com.au useful in getting a feel where the demand was for my IT skills - get a daily email update with all the jobs in the areas I'm interested in. I found the majority of IT jobs...
