Re: GP' in interior BC

Yes, Coldstream is pretty stunning! I'd happily live there too! I sometimes take my horse up to Vernon Riding Club and love it up there.

The rockslide is still there but they've made a much...

Re: GP' in interior BC

Hi! My husband is a GP in Summerland, so a little further south than your suggested areas but not too far away. We moved here 18 months ago with our 10yr old son and dog. We love it here... it's a...

Re: Hiring a car longer term

Thanks for your replies. Looks like it might be worth ringing round and asking for discounts for a long term rental. We had thought about buying one and selling it a couple of months later, but I...

Hiring a car longer term

My parents are planning to come over to visit us in BC for 2 months next year. They'll need a car but the usual car hire companies cost a fortune for such a long time. We can't lend them ours as we...

Re: Why Canada?

Haha... that's 2 seasons more than Britain!
I'm loving the proper seasons here... months of 30+ and then months of skiing. Very little rain and no mud. Perfect!

Why did we choose Canada? Mainly...

Re: Dog food

Royal Canin, Orijen and Acana are all readily available in both UK and Canada (BC at any rate). I fed Applaws in the UK but I can't get it here so switched to Acana. I dont think Acana 's quite as...

Re: Are we being realistic?

:goodpost:

Goodness.... just go! Travel, explore the world, meet new people. You may stay, you may return, who knows... but you'll gain experiences that money can't buy. Life is short...live it!...

Re: Banff - things to do for non-skiers

There's lots of ways you can enjoy the winter wonderland without skiing! Definitely snowshoe around Lake Louise, and find out where you can ice skate. There used to be sleigh rides around the lake...

Re: If social media existed back then

I used to set my GCSE students a revision task of creating Facebook profiles of the prominent Nazis- they were pretty imaginative!

I like to think that Shakespeare's blog would be fun......

Re: Vegetarian or Vegan. Thoughts?

We're hiding from the usual veggie-bashing we have grown to expect! (Not on BE but in the wider world).

I became vegetarian aged 6 due to my disgust at mass farming methods in the 1980s. I have...

Re: BC Gas Price

No, not a typo! It was $1.15 but they discount it by 2cents every weekend (I only just discovered that!). Unsurprisingly they ran out of gas by the end of the weekend

Re: BC pnp nomination

Might have been! The whole process was such an administration nightmare that I was easily confused (luckily my husband was able to wade through the bureaucracy! 😄). Either way the OP has mentioned...

Re: BC pnp nomination

Our whole family had to do the medical for my husband to work as a doctor. You might want to check if that's the case for you. You'll also need your police checks to work with children.

Re: Flying a puppy from the UK to Vancouver

I used Transfur to bring our dog from Somerset to Vancouver in September. It cost around £1200 and they were fantastic. That said, our dog is 5yrs. He was ok but rather dazed and confused, hot and...

Re: Shipping company is driving me mad! Please help!

We moved this summer and went with Whites. They were just over £5500 for a sole use 20' container, packed and delivered, Somerset to the Okanagan. They were very efficient initially, and the packers...
