We have finally started the end game as shippers arrived yesterday and packing up the house. We are in an Air BnB for a few days then a final farewell to family at the weekend before flying to Vancouver Monday with 2 kids and 2 dogs. Dreading that and customs but hopefully it wont be too awful.
Just a thank you for all the advice and support we have had from the forum. At times the process seems insurmountable but if you keep chipping away everything falls into place in the end.
Cant wait to get the ski boots on and start our new adventure so see you soon

good luck and don't sweat the customs and immigration part, it will turn out to be a huge anti-climax.

Hey Rich, I can't believe it's come around already (it must feel rather surreal). We wish you and your family every success - it's going to be an adventure for sure! Keep us posted on your progress and say hi to Monica from us! All the best and safe travels.

Register for your BC Medical Card on or before the last day of this month - the whole of November will count towards the '3 months' before you can get BC coverage.

Good luck with it all! I can't believe that whole last stage for us was nearly four years ago now!

So we are in Vancouver now. An emotionally and physically draining weekend!
The worst part was getting the dogs across - we have a cross breed they thought was a pug so got an email 5pm the night before saying this it was a nightmare no sleep then got to Heathrow and the supervisor took one look at her and said - yep fine to go could have kissed her!
Van airport was deserted so got to baggage and all we could hear was our dogs whining which was a relief they made it OK.
Customs officer was VERY grumpy and told me they couldnt issue a work permit at entry. A really helpful colleague appeared and we got it sorted within half an hour - 3 work permits and a visitor visa and off we went.
I was most aggrieved as I have spent months being organised and getting paperwork together and they barely glanced at it!! Most of what was needed was on file on their system so they just added some addresses and printed off the paperwork
Overall - Vancouver seems more peaceful than the summer - few bits to sort then head off to Kelowna once we have a car purchased

One thing that no one told me when I first landed, if you are renting a car to get to Kelowna, insist they have winter tires with a snowflake symbol on the sidewall.
Don't let them fob you off about being legal as they are M&S (mud and snow).
It's pretty bad up there right now
