Re: Taking a leap! Moving to UK with kids and bare savings

Ramsgate to London is on the edge of possible - I would guess 120-150 minutes 'door to door' trip, and the train won't be cheap. Note that York is a richer city than Ramsgate, with probably a better...

Re: Salary expectation in Healthcare Management

Parkway group is the largest private health care group - try looking there.

Re: Inheritance Tax and the law

You can move back to Australia when your father passes on - then your estate will only pay duties on UK assets. And you can sell up all your UK assets to make sure you have none to be taxed.

Re: Inheritance Tax and the law

Why do you say that? As you only pay it after you die, and presumably your sons will be well into middle age by then, and the tax only kicks in above a certain (high) level... Hardly horrible

Re: Where to move for the lifestyle we want?

For FS my understanding is that it is Toronto or nothing. Did you consider Edinburgh in the UK?

Re: Me and My Family

You shouldn't have left the 'co-maker' blank, you should have crossed it out/ written "Not Applicable" or "None". Very easy for someone to add your details. You might want to ask her for a copy of...

Re: Senior (65+) retirees - how is it in your later years

Also note the much cheaper cost of home nursing care/ domestic help. So even if medical care is not as good, QOL for elderly in PHP likely to be better (assuming you have partner who can ensure the...

Re: Me and My Family

Respect for being so open.

Just FYI - there is evidence that being malnourished when young does impact the brain's decision making to be more short term- i.e. the 'millionaire today' attitude.

Re: Validity of overseas marriage in Malaysia

Only an issue if someone decides to contest - or just have everything in joint names.

My FIL is obviously muslim, and due to interfamily dynamics any will was going to get challenged, probably on...

Re: Validity of overseas marriage in Malaysia

My experience is with Indonesia. My assumption is that you will need to register the marriage with the Malaysian HC, similar to the way we needed to register our Indonesian marriage with the UK...
