Not all speculations in property make that return.

Home ownership percentage in the UK is lower than most other countries. Problem with countries where people are happy to rent, just means they end up poor. Look at Germany, Switzerland for example and pensioner poverty is worsening. UK is not far from becoming like Germany and when you only have 700 a month, how are you supposed to afford the 700 for rent alone.

But thats the beauty of it, its not soeculation, its a home that happens to make money, if it made nothing in real terms its still ok, but why woukdnt you happily choose to pay a mortgage rather than rent...

The perverted idea that most property bought by the uk population is for investment is false. Sure people do, but the vast majority of gains are for normal folk, which is why both political parties wish to take these sums [i wont say profits because they are usually not realised until death or canny downsizing] in whatever way they can.

Seriously you need to get some perspective. Margaret left politics decades ago, and even when in power you at least knew what she believed in / stood for, she was honourable, she wasnt for changing, she took no prisoners - especially terrorists, unlike bliar and cameron.

The flip side of which being that younger generations find property increasingly unaffordable.

Please define the connection you appear to believe exists

Between high house prices now, and the past purchase of houses by people living in them?

If you seek to say supply and demand - thats not a flip side, thats simply a statement of the value of something in the marketplace.
