- Get an American Express credit card. This way you can convert it over to a Canadian one in just one phone...

I had Allstate that is also in Canada and they say they don't know anything about US accounts, so I couldn't "transfer" my insurance or take any advantage of having them in the past.

I got an American Express credit card when I was in the US just for this purpose and I was able to "transfer" it to a Canadian card.
