About to land - change paper currency
Hello all,
so my family and myself are about to land in a few weeks. Our plan is to go to Niagara Falls during a Saturday, then stay with some family a couple of days in Toronto to apply for SIN, maybe health insurance and open a bank account. Then we'll be back to the US for some months to finish tying all the knots.
It's an irrelevant story but the thing is that I have a bunch of thousand Euros in cash that I want to exchange for Canadian dollars in Toronto (probably while opening an account). I know about the $10,000 rule at customs. I've read some other related threads but I'd like to ask about best banks (best rates) to exchange paper currency.
I see in the web there's a lot of variation regarding exchange rates and commissions, for example:
http://www.hsbc.ca/code/tools/site/R...8-080020c629df
http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/rates/cashrates.html
http://www.citizensbank.ca/Personal/...oreignExchange
http://www.icicibank.ca/
I'll appreciate any experiences and suggestions.
On a side note, I'm in the IT field (not another one pleeease) but I'm determine to open up my own little shop if I don't find a decent IT job. Consulting in open source and/or computer security, if you ask me. I'll try to team up with one or two more people, let's see.
thanks
