Re: Toronto Christmas Markets

It is bigger than the Belfast Continental market, but oddly seemed to have less choice. Still I do imagine they will have a great time, as the distillery district is a nice area :)

I don't believe...

Re: Toronto Christmas Markets

The Distillery District is alright. It'll be good if you've never actually been to the Distillery District before, because they don't add as much new stuff/selection as you may be used to from say...

Re: Hubby needs help finding a job. What's going wrong?

He shouldn't get disheartened if he didn't find something in 3 weeks.

I very recently got a job offer which took 4 months of trying, with a success rate of a physical interview a month (not great...

Re: Landlord Issues & What to do next?

Although a long shot, but could there also be the possibility of both parties just agreeing to end the lease with 60 days notice?

I know here in Toronto, a number of apartments allow tenants to...

Re: Common Law - Time apart

Well my idea for the trip length is 8/9 days, haven't booked it yet, as I believe it would be best to book together if needed.

She only just moved in (been dating a couple of years), so by April...

Re: Common Law - Time apart

See this is my tiny worry. The stag do is in September (no wives or gf's allowed!), the wedding is in February which she will be going to of course. If need's be we'll do it, but she'd essentially be...

Re: Common Law - Time apart

Thanks for the quick reply :) Apologies, just to avoid confusion, I have PR, going for Citizenship this year. It's her that needs PR. But the requirement for a common law application is 12 months...

Common Law - Time apart

Hi guys,

Did the usual search but didn't get an exact match for what I'm looking for. So Plan A is the GF goes and gets PR through Express Entry, however, I like to plan ahead, so if that fails...

Re: Canada clamps down on flag polling

I remember flag-poling a few years ago, mid summer. Showed up around mid day and only one other person was doing the same thing.

Last year I helped my girlfriend do the flagpole. Showed up at...

Re: Failed job application, re-advertised.

Hi all,

On the Indeed situation (and I'll admit I'm guilty of this), the reason I post the same job every week, sometimes earlier, is usually by day three my job posting is on page 35 or beyond....

Re: Non-compete clause

Never, nor should I ever hope to, at least for the wrong reasons

I do get that there is a possibility of course that it is brought into action.

And surely the counter would be the same,...

Re: Non-compete clause

I've signed a couple of these (one of which is for the job I'm currently in) but it wouldn't stop me moving to another company in the same industry. I've also never seen one enforced and doubt I ever...

Re: 9 Dead in Van Incident in Toronto

100%. Not to mention that there seem to be members of the public nonchalantly walking in the background, so always the risk of them being hit!

Re: 9 Dead in Van Incident in Toronto

I think the only reason the suspect isn't dead/ wasn't shot is because the officer was confident he wasn't armed.

Still commendable how he handled it.

Re: How long to stay in a job

I can't comment about your particular industry, but I do the hiring at my company so somewhat relatable. In Toronto, I get approx. 100 applicants per position (that's low), and do tend to stay away...

Re: EE CRS points cutoff

How was your English score? If you're so close, those extra few points may make a difference.

I'd doubt it would make up 12 points, unless your English is a tad rubbish, but it'd be a lot easier...

Re: Today's shootings

I always thought the walls in Belfast were quite scenic when I was growing up :p I joke.

Definitely they wouldn't prevent it. Just my suggestion on damage limitation to a sad situation. There's...

Re: Goggle box- anything worth watching on TV?

Ah yes, I did read a couple of reviews that mentioned this as well. This was afterwards, not my main intention for watching. Scouts honour

Nonetheless, once you get past the Japanese...

Re: Goggle box- anything worth watching on TV?

Just finished Altered Carbon on Netflix. Science Fiction with 10 episodes, 8 of which were very good.

Also watched a Japanese show called Re:Mind. Murder mystery esque story. In subtitles, but if...

Re: Today's shootings

I am only talking about schools, as although we should all be able to lead safe, care free lives, children should be protected the most.

The part in bold will never happen in anyone's lifetime....

Re: Today's shootings

True, but given we know that gun control and gun culture in America will never change then you have to look at alternatives.

It is ridiculous, I don't disagree. But I'd much rather have every kid...

Re: Today's shootings

I'd say the best bet is airport style security i.e. metal detectors, guard at each entrance. Expensive I know, but given the amount of money countries tend to flush down the loo, it'd be a drop in...

Re: what to do in Toronto for 4 days ?

Well I'm pretty much out of ideas that don't involve the dirty lake

You could go to the Zoo? I'm clutching at straws, bar the usual pub/restaurants you can see.
