My advice is simple, its not worth the hassle mate. You can apply for a re-entry permit if you plan to be out of the US for more than one year but less than 2 years. If you stay out longer than that...

Ok when I filed my AOS back in 2000, I was told by the then INS that the forms CANNOT be fedexed to the service centers and that the best way to send them was by regular mail with a Return receipt....
