Who is the one that needs to get out of the house and make some friends more?
The poster that tells another not to generalise a nation's beliefs, or the poster that sifts through 130 posts, dating back some 3 + months ago, looking for ammunition?
It's quite clear to me.
Concerning your second post: I'm quite flattered, indeed. Obviously I've struck quite a nerve. So in your attempt to seek revenge, you've scoured my 130 posts in attempt to find a contradiction.
However, you are quite wrong if you are trying to prove what I think you are. And I'll explain to you why...
".......The worst statement was when I was disagreeing with an American about history (most Americans think WW 2 began in 1942, Blah!) and he said... "the fact that Australia is at the bottom of the map proves you all talk sh**!"......"
This was an individual experience with one American.
From this experience, I did not infer that all Americans believed that "because Australians talk shit because we're at the bottom of the map", as you had from a few comments by some Brits in your original post.
".... Here's a good expat site where we all make fun of the Americans and their ignorance...
http://www.aussieexpats.asn.au/modu....a1c151ddc8...."
Again, it's quite obvious that I'm referring to a collection of ignorant statements made by a group of Americans. I do not believe that every single American shares these beliefs. If I did, I would've said so. And as you know, I am quite frank.
I was not trying to instigate a general "anti-America" campaign, as I had posted the message board link directly under my statement.
I had not gone out of my way to create a thread. I merely contributed an experience.
In addition, the words "let's make fun of the Americans" was a way for me to deal with what I viewed as plain ignorance, to diffuse an otherwise hostile situation.
The difference between your original post and mine is quite simply... I did not come away thinking that all Americans hated Australians based on ONE feeble comment. Common sense told me that... this was ONE American.
ONE.
It became clear to me that creating a thread would not be necessary as logic had already dispelled this idea, anyway.
So, if you're purpose was to... "show me up" as it were, I'm quite sorry... but you've failed.
Perhaps you could waste another hour, or two ravaging my other 129 posts? You've obviously got all the time in the world!
Anyway, to prevent you from further embarrassment, I'm ending it here...
Have a great day!
It truly sounds like you need to get out of the house more and make some friends.

You do....Maybe your dad will let you borrow the car keys. :-)
**The poster that tells another not to generalise a nation's beliefs, or the poster that sifts through 130 posts, dating back some 3 + months ago, looking for ammunition?**
Nah....Not sifting. I simply scrolled down and looked for the word 'Americans' or 'USA'....It was fairly easy.
**It's quite clear to me.**
Obviously not.
**Concerning your second post: I'm quite flattered, indeed. Obviously I've struck quite a nerve. So in your attempt to seek revenge, you've scoured my 130 posts in attempt to find a contradiction.**
Seek revenge? Not hardly. However, I am realizing swiftly that you don't own too many shares in the common sense stock, so I'll just settle for a slight laugh at your attempt to hang from straws.

The entire above remark wasn't what I was writing back to you for. I simply copied and pasted your entire post because I believe it's the proper thing to do. Trust me. I couldn't care less about your chats with singular Americans, or anyone else for that matter.

No. It isn't obvious at all to people with manners and any type of communication skills. You generalize an entire group of people in your writings, and I'm not the only one that notices this. You seem to have to explain your half-baked theory to many other people in threads as well. Doesn't that tell you something?
**I was not trying to instigate a general "anti-America" campaign, as I had posted the message board link directly under my statement.**
Oh really? If thats the case, maybe you should learn to write in a way that pinpoints the exact people you are talking about and insulting, instead of writing things like this:

"Well, some of the English are arrogant, just look at some posts on here. I don't think Australians hate the English, I certainly have never met anyone that feels that way. If anything, the U.S. is our new victim."
I am from Melbourne, Australia.

You really seem to have a major issue with the US, kiddo. Maybe if you opened your mind and took each human being for who they are, you wouldn't feel the need to 'HATE' an entire country and tap into your overwhelming desire to constantly write about it.
**I had not gone out of my way to create a thread. I merely contributed an experience.**
And....? Is that statement supposed to explain away your behavior?
**In addition, the words "let's make fun of the Americans" was a way for me to deal with what I viewed as plain ignorance, to diffuse an otherwise hostile situation.**
You misquoted yourself. That wasn't what you wrote. Let me ask you something. How do you feel when people make generalized statements about homosexuals? As far as I have seen, it definitely insults the heck out of you and hurts your feelings. Judging by your posts on the issue, you seem to take it quite personally. So why do you think it's proper to write the same type of rude remarks about other people?
Are you just feeling hotile about the treatment you receive as a homosexual and feel like you have to make digs at Americans for it? Maybe you should see a therapist so you can unload your anger and confusion on a pillow instead.
**The difference between your original post and mine is quite simply... I did not come away thinking that all Americans hated Australians based on ONE feeble comment. Common sense told me that... this was ONE American. ONE.**
Two....three....four....five.... Doesn't really matter to me. You are trying to explain away your hateful remarks by talking in circles. Are you getting dizzy yet? It really is a moot issue. I never wrote that I hate British people, as you seem to hate the US. I asked an important question because of legit concerns I have, and your reply had nothing to do with it. What you wrote was an obvious attempt to insult someone you don't even know. Do you feel proud of yourself when you do that to people? Are your actions hinged on you being a angry nineteen year old and you feel like lashing out at people for no good reason?
**So, if you're purpose was to... "show me up" as it were, I'm quite sorry... but you've failed.**
Nope. Not show you up. I don't have to do that at all. I just happen to find it amusing when I bump into such a flaming hypocrite.... :-)
**Perhaps you could waste another hour, or two ravaging my other 129 posts? You've obviously got all the time in the world!**
An hour or two? Nah.... It took me about 10 minutes. And I can certainly spare 10 minutes to explain to a angry gay 19 year old that they should try treating other human beings with the same respect they so obviously yearn for from the rest of the world.
**Anyway, to prevent you from further embarrassment, I'm ending it here...**
I'm not the one that writes the trash you do. No embarrassment on this end. I'll leave that emotion to you.
**Have a great day!**
You do the same! :-D

I would have to agree as well. Sorry for allowing it to go so far. What is a PM? I've only ever written on the board. I'll gladly use it if it's better than this.

I just sent you one as a demonstration, so a little dialogue box should open up when you come to the site, if not click on "My Forum"

bloody hell Heather you've been busy on this website!!!!LOL
I think that the general consensus from this is that you'll be just fine in the UK and the only real problem you'll have is understanding the strong accents that even northerners like myself sometimes can't make heads or tails of.................so if you move to Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham, all of Wales, Glasgow then you're in trouble!!!!!!!LOL However, if you move to the best city in the UK, LEEDS, you'll have a great time. The only thing wrong with Leeds is it's crap football team, my team Leeds United!!!!!!!! Whatever you do, move to the north of England at the very least because London is crowded and very expensive to live in.

Like you said, you are from Leeds. How did you figure that out about London being crowded, and Leed being the best city in the UK ( and then you woke up ), just curious? Being an englishman myself, from the eastend of london originally, i'll say it depends on where you live in london.
You can live in the docklands, greenwich, and the south east for next to nothing, there is a lot to see and do, and it won't cost an arm/leg, some are even free. You can be in central london via the DLR in 20mins. We also have some of the oldest pubs in the UK, and lovely accents ( cockney, posh, and south london ) !
I know what am talking about, because i use to do that trip from the docklands where i still have a flat overlooking the dome. You can rent a two bedroom flat for 150 quid a week there, compared to central london.
London is expensive, but it tends to be central and north london.

I was told by my friends in the South that the North was a terrible place to visit. When I got there, I found that they were 100% wrong (in my opinion). It reminded me a lot of areas in Mass, where I grew up.
Also: I know what you're talking about with the strong accent issue.... I spent four days in Wales during January 2003 and I had to ask people to repeat themselves about three times per sentence. I felt like a total dork...lol

North is the place to be Heather - cheaper and friendlier with beautiful scenery...
Not so sure about Leeds though... *ducks for cover*

I'd really like to hear from some British people as to why this is?

If you look at this site it clearly shows that by at least a 2:1 ratio peole like Americans (OK the majority hate the politics, but from what you've said, so do you) so I think you will have no problems. Every country has their f**kwits, learn to ignore then and you will be fine.
As other have advised - two important rules for living in the UK - dont call UK england, that really pisses off the scots, welsh, irish and dont say how much better the US is (even if in your opinion it is - just grit your teeth and smile

"And now, from Norwich, it's the quiz of the week..."
Ha ha!!
It is funny meeting people from the Norfolk area. East Anglia always seems...well, a bit detached from the rest of us.
Not that that's a bad thing. Everybody I've ever met from that neck of the woods has always been lovely. And it is a gorgeous part of England.
Crikey - I'm digging myself some holes here aren't I...

i lived in norwich for 4 years whislt studying and whilst it did have a funny accent i agree that on the whole the people were lovely. jsut a pain it took 2 hours to get to the nearerst big city (which was london). other than that i guess i could go back there to live when i am bit older as it was nice and a hell of a lot cheaper than parts of essex and suffolk to live.
