Brilliant thanks for your help guys, that's cleared it up for me and I've done loads of extra reading. I hope the EEA visa is free but if not.. oh well, have to get it anyway :/

2. I would apply as soon as possible, it may take up to 6 months to get one, so get the stamp 4 registered...

Yes, but how they know unless they tracked my payments up to a year afterwards and saw me returning the money? I understand your point but I think UKBA would still find the mortgage situation fishy...

Yes thanks :) I agree it's best to get the residence card to make the whole method easier. When my partner and I get to Ireland we will start the process of getting the residence card immediately....

I've been advised that it's very risky to accept a gift like that. I was considering it too. UKBA would want to know where the money originated from and would see that it was from a mortgage. See...

Brilliant. Sounds very doable and I won't be in any rush once we're in Ireland so can wait around for the residence card and getting a family permit before going to the UK border, will make our lives...
