Re: Small family cost of living - Madrid

What an arrogant conceited little troll you are. The OP has probbably disappeared because (unlike you) I answered his/her question and they don't want to engage with idiots who have nothing to offer...

Re: Small family cost of living - Madrid

It really depends how much you like cosmopolitan, big city life. Madrid has a lot more going on, in terms of arts and entertainments, nightlife, culture, sports, etc (although you really need to...

Re: Small family cost of living - Madrid

That's about the going rate for the part of Madrid I live in. It's not as upmarket as the Colón area that the OP specified, but still quite central and nice enough.

Re: Small family cost of living - Madrid

I'm not really sure what kind of point you are trying to make here. All you've demonstrated is that you need a relatively high salary to live in an expensive part of Madrid and send a kid to an...

Re: Small family cost of living - Madrid

Most experienced white collar professionals I know in Madrid earn between €30k and €60k. Also most Spanish households I know have two people earning those kinds of wages. So a combined takehome of...

I live in Madrid with a wife and two kids so I guess I have some idea...

If you want the international school then that will probably cost at least 1000€/month/child, depending on ages, bus...

Re: Learning Spanish 2

I mentioned on the other learning Spanish thread that I am a fan of Duolingo, mainly because it makes it easy to practice a bit of Spanish each day. It won't get you fluent, but then again nothing...

Re: Correos letter pick up.

If the sender pays for a "carta certificado" they will try to deliver it to you in person at your address, and if they can't they can't get hold of you to sign it off they will leave a note and hold...

Re: Learning the language in your host country.

Yes I did French O level and I think it helped me with Spanish in that I immediately knew where to focus my efforts: verb conjugations. I remembered from French O level that once I had spent a summer...

Re: la Caixa - going downhill fast

La Caixa are making around 8000 people redundant this year. I think maybe another 9000 will be made redundant by the other banks. Since the 2010 crisis about 73,000 people have been made redundant in...

Re: Learning the language in your host country.

You can get infinite hearts if you pay a monthly subscription. My 11 year old son is learning French with Duolingo and I ended up paying because he was getting frustrated by running out of hearts for...

Re: UK Pension will increase yearly confirmed.

These days the Spanish state pension is only generous for those lucky enough to find a job that pays a high base salary for at least 15 years. I suspect that will go up to 20 years soon enough. AFAIK...

Re: Learning the language in your host country.

Duolingo is a very good resource for practicing a little bit each day, which I think is fundamental to improving language skills. Yes it is South American Spanish but it's better than nothing....

Re: Iptv recommendations

Sky Go still works with a VPN in Spain. If you are mainly after the Premier League then you might find a DAZN subscription costs less than a decent VPN anyway.

Re: Majority of Spaniards will not....

A lot of the doubts seem to revolve aroud the Pfizer vaccine being the first ever mrna vaccine. I understand the Oxford vaccine is not, and therefore might be more popular.

Re: are there any "miluristas" with their own houses?

In Madrid that's what a lot of people do. They start earning full time maybe in their mid to late 20s, save for say 5 years while living with their parents, and in their early 30s they have enough to...

Re: Is the property market doomed

Yes AirBnB definitely helped push up prices in central parts of Madrid. More generally there is still the feeling the market has been propped up by the supply of property being artificially ...

Re: Is the property market doomed

I agree totally. As an estate agent once told me back in the UK many years ago "a correctly priced property will always sell". The fact the estate agents in Spain don't even price to market kind of...

Re: Spain discusses basic income

The other problem with fixed/indefinido contracts is they discourage movement in the labour market. They make it expensive for companies to make people redundant, so in turn it discourages them from...
