You can share a container. Talk to the shippers, PSS, Doree Bonner etc. They will come and do a quote for you.

Worth shopping around, we need a 40' container and quotes vary by £2500 !!!

Your children will need to apply for Domestic Student Visa's, so you would only pay what the Kiwi's pay, i.e. nothing or a small 'voluntary' contribution. AFAIK.

Thanks Skybluestu, we are seriously considering Paraparaumu. We already have some friends there too. Seems a good balance of value for money property, climate, schools and distance to work.
