Re: Keep British passport as well, or just Canadian?

Thanks!

I guess I'm just confused why there would be any reason for it to be a problem anyway? Both in this case and the previous poster who had some hassle. Unless this UK ETA (when it comes in)...

Re: Keep British passport as well, or just Canadian?

Sorry, I'm not totally following and I'm probably confusing things lol.

For this trip back to Scotland, her British passport is expired and she'll therefore have to use her Canadian one to enter...

Re: Keep British passport as well, or just Canadian?

Makes sense.

Does that ultimately make a difference, providing the trip isn't longer than 6 months? Given she'll have to enter as a visitor this time, should she use my son's Canadian passport and...

Re: Keep British passport as well, or just Canadian?

That's a good point. I guess I don't ever really think of needing consular assistance in a foreign country. But the time you need it (much like the first time I ever had to actually use travel...

Re: Keep British passport as well, or just Canadian?

Thanks! Will definitely avoid ever leaving it that long, if we do ever let it lapse for a while.

Re: Keep British passport as well, or just Canadian?

How weird!

What was their complaint/issue? Just upset that you're a citizen but using another passport? Why would they care?

My wife will be heading over soon, and it'll have to be her Canadian...

Re: Keep British passport as well, or just Canadian?

Thanks again everyone!

We're going to renew my wife's for now. Her mum has Alzheimer's and is declining, and I don't want to take any risks with all the uncertainty going on with covid and...

Re: Keep British passport as well, or just Canadian?

Thanks all!

Some very interesting points.

With regards the one about it being harder to renew when you've let it lapse for a long time, any idea how long before that becomes the case? I'm...

Keep British passport as well, or just Canadian?

Hey all,

I've tried searching but haven't found much on this.

Looking for some thoughts on whether it's worth continuing to renew our British passports now that we have Canadian ones. We...

Re: UK Child Overseas Passport - Grandparents Birth Certificate???

Hi,

Just need to revive this a minute. Hopefully @BritInParis can chime in for one last question.

For my wife's parents, they actually had separate marriages before they got together. When...

Re: UK Child Overseas Passport - Grandparents Birth Certificate???

Thanks for the response!

So we do indeed have to send all those documents...? Just seems crazy, especially given they never asked us any details of their grandparents.

3 of the grandparents...

UK Child Overseas Passport - Grandparents Birth Certificate???

Hi all,

We were both born in the UK (after 1983) to British born parents. We moved over here in 2012, and now have 2 kids that were born here in Canada.

We're looking into applying for their UK...

Re: Citizenship Application Timeline

Ours was more like 9 months, but I do gather the 10-11 months is the average.

Re: Citizenship Application Timeline

Email for us. But then some later things came by regular mail. It seems to vary from person to person from what I've seen, and isn't necessarily consistent across your entire application. So I can't...

Re: Batter Sausage (from fish & chip shop)???

Ah, my mum had one of them back in Scotland.

Too many kitchen appliances, so I don't intend to buy one just for the odd sausage supper :-) Haha. So I'll need to do it the old fashioned way.

Re: Batter Sausage (from fish & chip shop)???

Thanks!

I'll need to try it sometime (soon!). I assume the deep-frying was just the same way as the video? Another thing I've never actually done!

P.S. - those chips also look amazing! I assume...

Re: Batter Sausage (from fish & chip shop)???

Hmm, that could be an option if I can't find anywhere that makes them here!

Let me know if you do try it out - I'd be interested how it goes :-)

Thanks!

Batter Sausage (from fish & chip shop)???

Not been home in a couple of years, and I'm missing the taste of a sausage supper (as we called it in Scotland!).

I haven't found the sausage in batter menu option in any of the fish and chip...
