Personally I think that if I am paying for the rent, the landlord should not have the right to get in the apartment unless there is an emergency. If he/she wants to show...

Here in Alberta it's the same, but I do not think that sticking a note on your door and then not being available for the whole day could be considered as a 24h. notice.

You're right. I once found under the bed, a flip-flop, bits of nails (painted in red), and a condom....errrrr...used. This was in Dublin a few years ago.
