Re: UK police officer moving to NSW next year

NSW Police Force is just like any other police force, except it is larger than most. It has the same wide range of roles for non sworn staff - from caring for the horses and feeding the dogs to...

Re: Wills

You can dispose of your assets by a single will wherever they are located.
Whilst it is possible to have two contemporaneously valid wills dealing with separate matters, the drafting needs to be...

Re: My trip to London

I know what you are saying and I've been as guilty as the next man of spending too long at work and then complaining that I never do anything. But not all of those people in Oxford Street or Covent...

Re: My trip to London

Most people? I wouldn't describe myself as fabulously wealthy by any stretch but I lived a very satisfying life in London as I now do in Sydney. I am sorry that you didn't/don't find London...

Re: My trip to London

I lived in London for 20 years and so guess must have been one of those rude people that slammed doors in people's faces. Anyway I was reminiscing the other day as you do - a blast of reverie...

Re: Advice please on shipping: everything vs just treasured possesions

We left everything that wouldn't fit in a packing case. Sadly that meant my Scalextric Formula One set was left behind. We sold what we could and the rest was cleared. Would have brought more M&S...

Re: The best future for our kids. Australia or UK?

Too true. To be honest I was too gobsmacked by the fact they could afford fags to think about the OH&S issues.

Re: The best future for our kids. Australia or UK?

I often take my toddler to a play area by the local oval when I get home from work early. There's usually a few school children about kicking a ball of one shape or another. I had to chuckle to...

Re: UK STATE PENSION - URGENT SIGNATURES

Surely if you cared so much for the UK taxpayer then you would not support the campaign since if successful, it means even more of their money is lost to the UK economy forever? If the people who...

Re: Legal situation - other peoples property on your premises

The good news is you did not commit a criminal offence in taking stuff that didn't belong to you. But the bad news is you still need to tread very carefully from here on in. Any correspondence must...

Re: Racism in Sydney and the East Coast??

Being white, it is very difficult to make a meaningful comment. However as someone who lived on London for years, the small number of Black Carribean people and Black African people in Sydney as...

Re: is a police check transferrable within Oz

If you mean police checks for other then immigration purposes then you will get a National Police Certificate, which should be accepted in all states. But a certificate is only valid for the day it...

Re: Does a magistrates court proceeding count against you in a PR application?

Only relevant criminal convictions will count against you. Your case sounds like a civil claim.

Re: Aussie Car Insurance - Where do i start?

Just insured my wife's car with "Real pay as you drive". They charge you a basic premium plus an amount based on predicted annual mileage - you can top up as necessary and unused mileage is added to...

Re: Permanent resident/return visa

Dawn,

Hi - I deleted my earlier message because I realised after I posted it that you were asking about RRV not citizenship, sorry.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Re: annoying neighbours

Neighbours don't generally communicate through third parties. Talk to the students. They are probably not aware that their behaviour is disturbing you. If they are new tenants then they are unlikely...

Re: David Hicks - should he keep book proceeds?

Its a tricky one isn't it? He pleaded guilty to the offence, but claims he did so as a plea bargain to avoid a longer sentence for an inevitable conviction following an unfair trial. However the...

Re: family of 4 moving to Sydney, where do we start looking?

It was a tough call for us. We wanted to be on the North Shore to be near the wife's family in Mosman/wife's work at St. Leonards but we didn't want to be over the Spit Bridge and wanted to buy not...

Re: family of 4 moving to Sydney, where do we start looking?

New member and coming a bit late to this. As others have noted, the trade off here as anywhere is space v location. I rented in Mosman and Cammeray before buying in Lane Cove about three years ago....
