As long term ex-pats we shipped all our belongings when we went to KSA. We got the compound peole to take away the furniture of theirs we didn't need. No problems.

Only saw the last five minutes of the wedding - thought the dress was lovely but why had they given her pointy boobs ? Have to agree about the military dress - looked very frumpy I thought.

It was because of the crash where a pilot died. The Mayor said he didn't think it was safe to have a display here.

Not a lot of obvious activity from the bases - I go to and fro twice a week due to kids involvements down there - doesn't appear to be any additional security. The Red Arrows are here just now and...

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza - not Dubai-style luxury but a really interesting place to visit. Best to go July/August during/after the rains - it's stunning.

I would say the relocation allowance is very low too. That wouldn't even cover my excess baggage fee when I first left UK.

I agree, push for family status and school fees are a must.

I guess at that rate you were buying the real stuff ? Much cheaper to make your own! LOL That is a huge sum for Saudi - we didn't spend anywhere near that much!

God no, not a Pathfinder . . . . a proper Nissan Patrol - the ac was fine. As EM says the locals love Patrols - and look at what the police drive . .
