I don't know about the visa question but you can definitely book return tickets and only use the one way. Lots of people do this as it is often the cheaper option. Good luck.

I think you should be fine Although options are chosen in year 9 the actual 2 year GCSE's don't start until year 10. You may have to fit in with the timetables the school have already drawn up but...
