After 14 years out of the UK we are now back and kind of unpacked in our rented house in a small Derrbyshire village. We haven't lived in this area before so everything is new. Sadly one of our 2 dogs died on the flight which has put a real dampner on the move. She was an elderly dog who had a heart condition and I had hoped we could get her back here to enjoy the big garden for a few months. Now of course I wish we had put her down before we left as the guilt of not being there when she was stressed is very difficult.
Anyway so far everything else is good. People in shops seem much more knowledgeable about what they are selling and everyone is very chatty in the supermarkets etc. So much can be ordered on line and a lot is delivered free. The countryside on the doorstep is lovely and we have 3 great pubs in the village.
Good luck to everyone about to move or considering it.

So very sorry about your dog, my dog is 13 and half and I am leaving him with my family here in the US, he is a family dog though and I know he will be well loved. but how sad for you.
Derbyshire is beautiful, I love the dales there.
I hope you have a wonderful new life.

I'm so, so sorry about your dog. What heavy hearts you must have. But I hope you can let yourself off the hook and know that you did the very best for her. She will be with you in spirit in your new life.
