Can't see the point of becoming Canadian, the only benefit is the vote, like that makes any difference. Think I will stay a Brit rather than paying so much to vote.

I wouldn't go as far as hanging, ostrasizing perhaps? I quit 4 years ago and hate the smell of the stuff, I must add that here it seems more women smoke than men ( most are single) I can't imagine...

If you have the Flu, you will know it, only had it once in my life, but it is debilitating. A runny nose and a cough is a cold, Flu will knock you down like a skittle.

I have never had a problem in Halifax with border security, always polite and helpful, even when they are taking stuff away from me. No complaints here, wonderful , welcoming people.

People expecting the country they now live in to be the same as the one they are from. All I can say is Thank God Canada is not the same as the UK.

3 years since PR

Over 3 years since we got PR through the Nova Scotia community identified stream. We are still here in NS and love it, although it has been hard and each day is a new challenge, we would never go...

First Snow

Well it took its time but at last we have snow, it started about midday, only an inch or so at the moment, at least with the frozen ground the mud has gone!:thumbsup:

I got all of mine done too, I went to a lawyer who did them all for free in Canada. I did expect to have to pay, but he was happy to do it for nothing.

As Jimmy says, are you landing? Are you visiting? Do you have a temporary work permit? A student Visa? Bunac? no one can answer your question if they don't know the circumstances of you coming in.

I wouldn't mind betting that you are right, there has been a lot of Canadian influence in Ice Hockey in the UK which is reflected in the junior teams. Now more than ever the major teams in the UK...
