First Snow

Well it took its time but at last we have snow, it started about midday, only an inch or so at the moment, at least with the frozen ground the mud has gone!

Because I'm a hopeless gardner and my missus is even worse, we look forward to the snow so our pathetic looking lawn is covered and the neighbours stop pointing and staring at our yard for a few months.

Some snow on the mountains in North and West Vancouver - where it should be. If you live high enough up the hill then you will get some in your yard, but the ski hills is where it is best!
All our local ski hills are open as of this weekend!
Smugly from the west coast...

We had sprinkles of this strange white flakey stuff last Thursday and Friday. On the whole, Vancouver took it without too many hysterics.
But then on Saturday morning... a blanket of fresh 6-10cm deep all over the place! And more is forecast for the end of this week too! In Vancouver!
Yesterday's high was -5C and the same is set for today!!!
I know that such numbers are unimpressive to those in the 'true' true north strong and free..... but such weather conditions were never mentioned in the Lower BC brochure when i looked at moving here!
brrrrrrrr!

I love the cold but hate the snow.
Right now it is -21 before the windchill and the roads are bare. This is a perfect winter for me. I hate shovelling snow.

It was 39 degrees in my front room yesterday. I don't mind hot weather, but for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon I would have cleared snow with my bare hands.
