On the TAMM website you'll find a list of schools using the British Curriculum (https://www.tamm.abudhabi/wb/get-education/schools?lang=en) including a map view so you can see where they are. The...

Re: UAE salary thread

To be fair we'd probably reduce our groceries bill by 30% if my other half stopped using Spinneys and Waitrose.

Re: UAE salary thread

It''s going to be a bit family-dependent, but here's some of our household (2 adults, 3 children) monthly stats from last year:
2 cars (both fully owned, so this is just fuel and maintenance): 1800...

Re: UAE salary thread

If you leave your family behind you also have to be very careful about nights spent back in the UK and nights spent in a family home as you could find yourself judged to be resident for tax purposes...

Re: UAE salary thread

40k annual schooling allowance (assuming it's per child) will just about cover nursery, but you will start to need to top up by the time they get to year 1, assuming you go to one of the major...

Re: Nanny / Maid Visa Renewal - Abu Dhabi Recommendations?

I just go to Tadbeer in Al Wahda and they do all the renewal for me (1 year) - takes about 20 minutes. Our maid is under my sponsorship, not Tadbeer's.
Renewal is about 5500dhs, plus 1000 dhs...

Re: Moving to Abu Dhabi

There's precious little public transport so unless you end up living within walking distance of work (which almost nobody does) then you will be in a car of some kind (personal, or taxi). There are...

Re: Pre-prep schools ranking

There's no such thing as pre-prep here. In fact, there's no such thing as prep either. It's either nursery, primary or secondary education. Even British schools like Cranleigh or Brighton College...

Re: UAE cost of living

I can only give you opinions on BSAK where my kids go - what do you want to know? In terms of academic achievement, I think BSAK, Cranleigh and Brighton College are largely similar. BSAK is more...

Re: UAE cost of living

It's not ideal. If you're working at ADNOC and want a British school it would be much better to live on island and pick an on-island school too.

Re: Advice Please - Pre Move to Abu Dhabi

We have three kids (4,4 and 8) at a British school so hopefully can help you a bit.

There's plenty around Al Raha, whether the older Raha Gardens (on left of motorway as you go towards the main...

Re: UK Passport Renewal from Oman

But under what circumstances are you able to travel without the passport that has your residency visa stamp in it? I guess you can use E-Gate to exit and hope that it works again on return to let...

Re: UK Passport Renewal from Oman

Is a second passport that useful? You have to exit on the passport that has your residency visa in it, which means the second passport is irrelevant when exiting the country and can only come into...

Re: School in Abu Dhabi: Cranleigh vs BSAK

BSAK is non-profit, with fees from 43k (FS1) to 70k (Year 13). Cranleigh's fees are 65k for FS1 up to 96k in Year 13. So 50% higher basically.

Re: School in Abu Dhabi: Cranleigh vs BSAK

Very few, if any, parents have kids who go or have been to both schools, so nobody is going to have an objective opinion on which one is better. So BSAK parents think BSAK is better, and Cranleigh...

Re: Buying/investing in UK as a UK Expat

I'm qualified to read T&Cs and see that these plans have egregious management expenses and uncompetitive lock-in periods.
