Reference checks are much more stringent than they were ten years ago...

Whoa hold your horses!

What about buying a house very near the good secondary schools? That way, you will be ideally placed for a good primary and then after, a secondary of your choice.

Remember that clothes and shoes are cheap in the UK - maybe cheaper to buy new once you get there, rather than ship. Don't know about prices in Aus.

Thankfully things have settled down a bit since the weekend and we're all feeling a bit less 'got at'. I believe the final three weeks will be ok.
