PR status

Re: NOVA SCOTIA BACK TO UK

Admittedly Canada is not cheap. But you will lose money in the first couple of months as set up costs. There is no getting away from that fact. Only giving it three weeks is a little premature and...

Re: About to land

Well he may / may not make the move. But I guess it is still worth completing the Landing just in case he decides to go. Yes he does have a family. Education runs out after the age of 18, so...

Re: About to land

Well to be fair, mine took 2 years or so and I found it difficult to engage what the level of a typical salary might be simply because Canadian employers will not talk to you. However, the indication...

Re: UK vs UAE salary (offers)

It really depends on what you spend your money on and how. But overall if your UK salary after tax is the same as your overeas salary plus housing then you probably would be better off considering...

Re: Guys - Car Allowance???

I believe that used to be or still is Mark Brightmore. Is he still going? I used to enjoy listening to his show!

Re: I've just been offered a job in Abu Dhabi!!!

I would push for a bit more too. At least get flights to the UK every year and medical / dental thrown in. I turned down AED38K per month earlier this summer, just didn't feel it was enough.

Re: HR Gurus: what drives you crazy about recruiters?

I generally find them a bit useless.

All they do is take your cv and stick their logo onto it. I have had them set up an interview and not confirmed the interview back to me. So when the interview...

Re: Just handed my notice in...

Ah well congratulations. Sometimes the longer you leave it the worse it gets. I've got to do the some sooner or later.

Who have you decided to work for? Send me a PM if you prefer.

Cheers

Re: Hopefully soon in Abu Dhabi

This sounds very poor indeed and I am not even there. I know professionals from the Indian sub continent who were earning more than this 2 years ago. You need to seriously more than double this offer...

Re: British License and the new UAE rule

Re: British License and the new UAE rule

You still have to be careful. I was in a rental car on my British licence outside Dubai Bank and a policeman decided to demand my driving licence. When I produced my British licence he was not too...
