Good luck to my friend who lands in Vancover, Canada over the next few days. Mind you I have had to advise him how crap the salaries are for our profession in Canada, which has put a bit of a damper on the process. To have waited 4 years and then be let down by renumeration, what can I say. He will be taking a drop from $240,000 to $60,000, some drop.

If money is that big a deal to him then he should stay where he is. Sounds like he is onto a good deal there

He's been planning this for 4 years and yet he didn't think to check out what salary he would get in Canada?
Sounds really prepared, what else has he forgotten to research?!?

Thanks for your concern.

I still don't understand how he couldn't find out a vague figure (there are numerous websites with details of salaries for all occupations on).
But even if he really couldn't, why is he emigrating to a country where he has no idea how much he'll earn or what kind of quality of life he'll be able to afford?!?
Hope he hasn't got a family to provide for!

Yes he does have a family. Education runs out after the age of 18, so he may well have to move for the kids sake.
