Mind you I have had to advise him how crap the salaries are for our profession in Canada, which has put a bit of a damper on the process. To have waited 4 years and then be let down by renumeration, what can I say. He will be taking a drop from $240,000 to $60,000, some drop.

If money is that big a deal to him then he should stay where he is. Sounds like he is onto a good deal there

Well to be fair, mine took 2 years or so and I found it difficult to engage what the level of a typical salary might be simply because Canadian employers will not talk to you. However, the indication provided by an Employment agency was miles out. I simply advised him of my experiences.

But even if he really couldn't, why is he emigrating to a country where he has no idea how much he'll earn or what kind of quality of life he'll be able to afford?!? Hope he hasn't got a family to provide for!

Well he may / may not make the move. But I guess it is still worth completing the Landing just in case he decides to go. Yes he does have a family. Education runs out after the age of 18, so he may well have to move for the kids sake.
