Re: baggage allowance
Anyone got any idea about flying out a push bike? Maybe free as sports equipment? Worth trying eh? Julie

Re: baggage allowance
Left the UK via MAN to AUH with Emirates last year and got charged 300 quid for not a lot of excess baggage that included a guitar in a hard case. No chance of carrying onboard.
Came back last week with Etihad from MAN 15kg over for free.
Lots of aggro and differrent rules now at british airports now regarding the one and only one hand carried bag. (I'm pretty sure that the Uk is the only country insisting on it). I had to argue (err discuss) the toss with the 'person' at the pre security check for liquids because I was carrying a small bag and a laptop. Ended up with me being told to take my chance with the xray gorillas which I did..... and nobody gave a toss

Re: baggage allowance
I'm flying to dubai on tuesday with emirates from the uk. the baggage allowance on the ticket still states 20 kilos baggage allowance.
I intend to take a suitcase, a large holdall, golf clubs and guitar plus laptopo bag as hand luggage.
anyone know anything about the excess charges, are they strictly enforced? what about the guitar - can i carry that as hand luggage too?
Anyone with any experience of this?

Re: baggage allowance
Emirates not too bad with excess - as has been said - stuff the golf bag as it is free.
Am consistently shocked at how anyone can rate them as a good airline though - being better than BA in economy is not a boast

Re: baggage allowance
BA economy is shocking, Emirates is just poor. I've never seen so many seats crammed into one space in a 'premium carrier' as on emirates...couple that with the rude staff and the inedible food.
Sadly BA food is worse, the entertainment is worse but at least the staff try to be helpful and the seat allows someone of my height (not tall at all) to sit in reasonable comfort.
New BA club world is 14 country miles ahead of emirates
For economy to UK I'd rather take the stopover and fly Qatar, well deserved 5 star airline. Virgin has a better service but the same shocking seat layout.
