Re: The Summer's Cricket.

My Mrs is English but just doesn't get cricket, or sport in general. She did watch some of the later England games during the Rugby World Cup in France in 2007 but even then her only contribution was...

Re: The Summer's Cricket.

I've got a PVR and did think about taping it like you say, although I did find the cricket plus production to be less than A1. During the first couple of Ashes tests they kept taking too long with...

Re: The Summer's Cricket.

SL continue to be in trouble at 177-9, although yet again it's raining. Tremlett doing the main damage, although Swann got a wicket in his first over for a change :)

Not overly bothered about the...

Re: What is the main reason you applied for/obtained/want Canadian citizenship?

I understand what your saying. I do not make a deliberate attempt to stay British and I'm currently in my 4th year here I guess there is a long way to go. No plans to return to the UK other than for...

Re: What is the main reason you applied for/obtained/want Canadian citizenship?

3 reasons why I will apply for Citizenship early next year when eligible.

1 - No need to go through the hassle of renewing PR.
2 - Ease of travel into the US (for now) and having the duel...

Re: G*D D*mn Mosquitoes!

According to the radio yesterday, the mosquitoes that we are currently "enjoying" in Alberta at the moment (think they called them first hatches or something) are a particularly nasty breed, who are...

Re: Astma

My wife and I had exactly the same conversation about the colds the other day, neither one of us can remember having a cold since arriving in Canada.

I too was asthmatic in the UK, using an...

Re: Real cost of living: beer n smokes by Province?

Alberta checking in (this is from memory about a week ago) -

24 Bottles of Canadian in Canadian Superstore was about $36 if you purchased 3 or more 24 bottle packs. Think is was $39 for a single...

Re: Cricket World Cup 2011 Thread- Who will win?

Voted Sri Lanka. Think India have the best team on paper but their fielding is about as good as Monty Panesar with both arms tied behind his back. They have a lot of players to hide in the filed when...

Re: New Telus bundle...

Sorry, managed to skip over that line reading too fast. This does seem like a very good deal and although we've had no major problems with Shaw (internet speed can be inconsistent but otherwise it...

Re: New Telus bundle...

Our friends switched to Telus 6 months ago and are very happy with the package and service that they receive. The issue for me is that they had to sign a 3 year contract - for that reason I am happy...

Re: Northerner or Southerner?

Re: Performance reviews...

I agree with helcat12's comment regarding always having to find "development points" ie - on my last appraisal (which resulted in a decent pay rise) the only average mark out of forty points was...

Re: Ashes online?

Can't make my mind up if the pitch did indeed have variable bounce like Hussey said in his interview or if he was just playing mind games, trying to put some doubt into the English batting. At first...

I subscribed on Monday to Cricket Plus, who by the way have put the price up to $16 a month in anticipation of those of us who will cancel again after the series (probably).

Re: The Canadian facial hair thread.....

Usually anything from 1 to 4 days growth, which is more slack than when in the UK as was expected to be clean shaven (or neat beard/mustache) in previous job.

Tend to shave after about 3/4 days...

Re: Buying tire in the US

Some of the truck drivers who we see at work and who live near the border always get the US garage fitting the new tires to write "due to puncture/blow out" on the receipt. That way if they get hit...
