Buying tire in the US

We've had this conversation to death in our house regarding the basement flooring. Let me set the scene for you
Mr MMC "Hey babe, you can decorate upstairs if you let me have the man cave?"
Me "That works you don't have bad taste"
Mr MMC "Well I kinda want it like a hunting lodge"
Me "oooh that'll look nice, what like wood, stone, outdoorsy type stuff, the dead animals on the wall type look"
Mr MMC "yeah, plus I want camo carpet on the floor"
Me "What?"
Mr MMC "Camo carpet y'know the t....................."
"I know what camo carpet is"
"Don't you think it'll look good?"
"Are you f****g serious?"
"Yeah this is my man cave - and I want it it'll go"
"This isn't Bass Pro or Cabelas you know? It'll look shite, it's awful"
Skip forward about 3 hours, and the deal is to put bamboo or laminate round the edges and to have camo carpet in the middle - a bit like a built in rug. Won't do hardwood as it scratches and seeing as the guys are going to be down there a lot we want something durable that "goes" with his theme.
Listen, I get to do upstairs - thats a fair payoff - if the basement floods well thats his issue

Quick update on costs-
Called down to the place we will likely be going to to get a quote on Cooper STT studded tires, 265/75/16
Place in Kalispell - $795.85 all in (installed balanced studded etc)
GM in Stettler - $1104 all in (that includes my "used to work there" discount)
Random tire place in Ponoka for comparison $1428 all in.
So if we were just going there for the tires the cost of actually getting there would eat up all the discount i'd save if I got em from GM - however as it'll be a weekend shopping trip to buy me something nice and shiny for my 40th (Hubby are you reading this?????
) then it's worth it - even paying the gst on the way in only adds another $40.

If yo ubuy clothes, pull all the tags off and pop 'em in your suitcases, just keep a couple of cheap receipts

www.tirerack.com is good for comparison pricing. I bought some winter tires there a couple of years ago. Although the shipping to Nfld doubled the price they were still cheaper than buying locally!
