Re: Exchanging Aus Driving License for UK

Re: Stay or Go?

Yep it sure does, lots of little savings = one big saving. And we don't make conscious decisions to 'save money'. We just save money as a result of not wanting to waste food and not buying packaged...

Re: Stay or Go?

Absolutely. My wife and I are both from families of chefs, so we are able to make things all from scratch. Good fruit and veg from Aldi, meat from a cheap butcher, specials in Coles / Woolies. People...

Re: Stay or Go?

Read the details properly. I said we get ABOUT the same as the OP's potential income. I didn't say our income was $70k. If it is important you know, I have just calculated and it is $78,500.

Those...

Re: Stay or Go?

You'll make it work and you will make new friends in time. Plenty people on here will scare-monger you with the cost of living, but you will make it work I am sure. Our household income is about the...

How about using an iPad to watch UK iPlayer? Anyone know any good, cheap, VPNs?

We have Apple TV, so in theory should be able to stream iPlayer to our widescreen from the iPad.

Anyone done this...

Re: Mortgage Criteria

We paid $2k on a $300k mortgage, lenders insurance that is.

Also we only needed a 10% deposit, that was with CBA. That was me on a temporary spouse visa and the OH a citizen.

Re: Travelling with one infant and one child

Yeah, we always go BNE - NCL with Emirates, really good to miss Heathrow. They aren't too bad, seem to charge about 70% for the older child.

Travelling with one infant and one child

Good luck to you, try and ignore the bitterness of people on here who have had the big move gone sour for whatever reason. You only live once, so give it a go. It's not for everyone, but you won't...

Re: Investing in US Property

Betting on the exchange rate isn't really for me, I'll be buying in GBP so there's not that level of gain? Thanks for all the advice though.
