I'm in a similar position. Left our HSBC accounts cashed up and open so we could transact easily from OS. HSBC decided we needed new cards, posted the PINS to Aust.(where they also send statements)...

If so.. and if it was due to the (dodgy) car being shunted by you into them - then you may be responsible for their insurance...

I'm suprised, this was a psycholgical barrier for me too.. Perhaps the UK (apart from you lot) doesn't really care about the AUD? I've not zoomed in, but did the GBP wobble against any of the other...

yep, I know.. hence the question about leaving Aust. on a UK passport that is .. apart from an entry/exit for Cuba in 2003, completly blank.
