Re: Driving from Sicily to Liguria and thence to France

We are 21st century British Expats that have made Italy our home. We’re not tripadvisor.

Where exactly has “the bridge” slipped out of the news? Not Italy, for sure. By “they”, are you...

Re: Self-employed in Italy (vs Spain)

Re: The end of our Italian dream

I tend to agree with George on this. They seem to have gone from one extreme to the other. Maybe near a small vibrant town would have been a more appropriate option. Anyway, by the sounds of it,...

Re: Chiggers.

An important addition here since the perils of playing in long grass have been raised! Oh, so much for spontaneously running romantically through meadows wearing a pretty summer dress!

No! Your...

Re: Common Reporting Standard

To be honest I've blanked the whole experience. Although it's on here somewhere, I remember we had to pay an accountant a lot of money to redo five years worth of tax returns, plus the back-tax we...

Re: Common Reporting Standard

Did your accountant ask you about your UK bank accounts and earnings in previous years? They should all have been put on your end of year tax return that used to be called the "730" form - now...

Re: The Comfort Zone. Favourite food, drinks, where to buy, and recipes.

Has anyone found an alternative to Horlicks in Italy?

I couldn’t find anything that said “malto”, there’s only “orzo” soluble type drinks in the supermarket but they all seem to be...

Re: Moving to Italy, working in the UK

This used to be the case but the law changed some years ago to "non consecutive" because people were flitting from one country to another to avoid paying up.

Regarding the time spent on flights,...

Re: Moving to La Marche or Umbria with my 14 year old daughter

I would personally think twice before moving my teenage kid to another high school in the same country let alone to a different country where they don't speak the language. If your kid was under ten...

Re: Tax Advice - working for a UK Ltd company and in Italy

This was a very crude calculation and amounts to just over 25% income tax. Yes, there are detractables; mortgage interest 19%, chemist receipts, sports clubs for kids, eco-incentives 50% etc but I...

Re: Tax Advice - working for a UK Ltd company and in Italy

You won’t be allowed to earn more than €5.000 on Co.Co. Maybe €6k you’d get away with but not more. You’d have to open a VAT no. here. If you find a way around that please share.
