We have an English lady (doctor obviously! ) in Croissy s/Seine, only just down the road from le Vesinet. Think she only does 2 days per week but could work for you?

Good luck with the choices coming up, the language will come if you decide Lyon is for you I'm sure, we've only been here since the turn of the year and my shrugging's coming on in leaps and bounds....

Can probably only echo what others have said and good luck with the decision, if France really is where you want to settle the home working route deserves alot of investigation as I see what you mean...

our experience in summer was that high street shops were no problem, just tell them that its not a chip and pin card, but the supermarket where we stocked up on uk essentials couldn't process our US...

we were there week before last and did a bike tour, fat tire bike tours they were called, which all the family enjoyed. google them for better details than I have but their office was close to Eiffel...

ditto the first two replies in that we were able to insure with just our UK licenses, state farm took us on no problem.

try walgreens, they knew of the different uk spec when we renewed our passports 2 months ago, handy just to compare the pic they give you with that in your passport but we had no problems
