Re: Driving licence eligibility

Hey guys, thanks for all the help. I think I might be confusing everyone by mixing up my terminology; I need to get an Instruction Permit to enable me to practice driving on the wrong side of the...

Driving licence eligibility

OK, I've make the jump to the States, yay for me and all that. Today I went to get an Arkansas learner's permit, but the woman I spoke to said that because I'm not a permanent resident yet, I...

Re: K1 Forms Questions...

I had my K-1 interview at London a few weeks ago, and they didn't ask for part 2, so it doesn't seem to be required there at least.

I had it all filled out incase they wanted it though.

Re: Original Certification of Vaccination Records

I had to get a letter from my GP, and the doctor explained to me that it wouldn't cause a delay as it normally took them about 4 days before they were ready to send everything to the embassy. So as...

Re: Original Certification of Vaccination Records

You need a printout of whatever vaccinations you've had. Mine was just a regular computer printout; it wasn't letter-headed or anything. I asked the nurse to sign and stamp it for me, and that was...

Re: How long before the kids get a US accent?

My fiancée has warned me that I better not lose my accent; is doing so grounds for divorce?

Re: New Commercial... time to brainwash the masses!

People who don't like nationalised healthcare seem to forget that you can go private and/or have medical insurance if you want. The insurance companies are the ones who'll lose out, and of course, we...

Re: Travel during AOS - Hawaii an option?

I can appreciate that, and the OP appears to have been apprised of any risks. I didn't say there were no risks, I just put them into context. What the OP does is up to himself/herself.

Life is...

Re: Travel during AOS - Hawaii an option?

I just assumed as others were advising the OP not to go to Hawaii, they would know.

Re: Travel during AOS - Hawaii an option?

Without a passport?

I hear what you're saying, but if it's more likely that the plane will crash into the sea killing everyone on board than it is to get stuck in another country, I wouldn't...

Re: Travel during AOS - Hawaii an option?

Lots of US citizens fly without having a passport.

Has anyone ever had their plane diverted outside the US, and not been allowed back in the country as a result?

Re: Brit Male Marrying Female US Girl Resident - K1 Process Started

I have been looking at prices of flights from Dublin to Tulsa for months now, and not once have I found a return that's cheaper than a single. I had been all prepared to buy return tickets because...

Re: what to wear!!!!

I wore a shirt (not tucked in I'm afraid) and a pair of "smart" jeans, with a long coat.

I wouldn't go to a job interview in it, but I think I looked OK.

The people at the window only see you...

Re: Lesbian Couple

I agree with fatbrit; getting married and then her moving to the UK would seem to be the easiest solution to the problem of you two being together (which I assume is the most important...

Re: thankyou so much BE!!! :)

That's a great price; £257 one way was the cheapest I could find. I'm moving to NW Arkansas, which is a couple of hours drive from Tulsa. There is a closer airport, but it's much more expensive. I...

Re: Travelling to London for K1 Medical and Interview

I had to travel from Belfast twice, with about 4 weeks between each trip. It probably cost me about £75 each time, which wasn't so bad.

You can have your medical on the day of your interview...

Re: thankyou so much BE!!! :)

Congrats Yorkie!

I don't want to steal your thunder, but I was approved for my K-1 on Friday, and this seems as good a place as any to post.

I waited four hours for a 60 second...

Re: For Consul Dean: New border controls could penalise Britons with dual nationality

It's not really. The Ireland Act 1949 (http://www.statutelaw.gov.uk/content.aspx?activeTextDocId=1096759) (which is still law) maintains that "the Republic of Ireland is not a foreign country for the...

Re: For Consul Dean: New border controls could penalise Britons with dual nationality

They aren't leaving the Emerald Isle, just going to a different part of it. I'm told by the Daily Mail that the UK is a soft-touch when it comes to illegal immigrants.

Re: For Consul Dean: New border controls could penalise Britons with dual nationality

I'm talking about the land border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

The one time I was asked to show a passport was getting the bus from Dublin airport to Belfast, when we...

Re: For Consul Dean: New border controls could penalise Britons with dual nationality

The Irish border begs to differ (if you can find it that is).

I've been back and forth over it countless times without having so much as a driving licence upon my person.

If you have a read of the comments on that article, someone sent an email to the e-Borders team, and received the following reply:

I'm guessing this is a lot of fuss over nothing, written by...
