K1 Forms Questions...
#1
I have found answers to most of my questions on the forum where others have asked, but still have a few I can't find answers for if anyone can assist -
DS-230 - I have noted various posts referring to completing Part 2 of this form, however I cannot see this being requested anywhere else (namely the link the embassy gave me http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/iv/iv_15.html or the forum Wiki). I have only completed Part 1. Is Part 2 also required?
I-134 - the information that the form instructions give differ slightly from what is requested here http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new...affidavit.html - should we go with exactly what the form instructions say? (for information Chris is providing me with his most recent tax return, a letter from his bank stating his balance and length of time he has had account and a letter from his employer stating salary, length of employment and permanency). I am under the impression this form is not necessarily a requirement for the K1, but is used to provide information to prove I won't become a public charge so I am unsure if it's specific instructions are required over and above the K1 requirements?
Thanks
J

I have now noticed that the main K1 Wiki page (http://britishexpats.com/wiki/K1) makes reference to taking Part 2 of the DS-230 but it is not mentioned at all on the London Applications section (http://britishexpats.com/wiki/K1_London_Applications). But again, the embassy website only mentioned the requirement for Part 1?

The reason the Wiki says stuff the Embassy website doesnt....is because the wiki is written by people who have actually gone through the experience of the K1.
There is plenty of things on the wiki article not on the embassy website that have proved important.
A few people have asked if they need to sign part 2, your the first person ive seen ask whether they need to fill it out.
Id do as the Wiki says for now, its correct as far as i know (its what i had to do for my K1) maybe someone else who has done it recently will be able to help if you decide differently.

Forms required by K-1 beneficiary are:
DS-230 - Fill out part 1 and 2, but ONLY signed part 1
DS-230 Part 1, DS-156, DS-156k and DS-157 (if needed) gets sent to the embassy with your checklist (IV-15)
Take DS-230 Part 2 (unsigned) with you to the interview along with your I-134 from USC, supporting documents for it. Evidence of relationship etc.

DS-230-II is not used for the K visas, except perhaps at a few consulates. My wife didn't need it where she applied for her visa, but apparently the consular section in London does use it.
Note that the I-485 pretty much covers the same ground.

I did a lot of the K1 article and the K1 For London Applicants based on what I was reading on the boards and from my own experience of going through the K1 process in London. I wasn't sent instructions to complete Part II of DS-230. The only form I didn't sign until I was asked to was DS-156.

Now that I sit all of the K1 article, I see that PepsiChic added the parts about DS-230 Part II.
I don't know if this is true or not. I don't recall having to do it when I went through London in 2007, but that may have changed.

I may as well just do it just in case I suppose. It just seems odd that London wouldn't tell you on their link all the stuff you need? I mean, how do people who do this stuff without posting on forums like this manage?
I obviously don't want to cause myself any unnecessary issues, so I'll do what everyone suggests, but I'd be a bit upset if London did penalise me for not filling out something that they didn't ask me to fill out in the first place!!
This is all the embassy link tells me -
Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration (DS-230 Form Pt.1)
Background -
The Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration, Form DS-230 Part I, the Nonimmigrant Visa Application Form, DS-156, and Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application, Form DS-157 contain questions regarding specific biographical information required for the visa.
Who completes the form -
Each family member eligible to travel to the United States with you under this visa classification is required to complete the Forms DS-230 Part 1, DS-156, and DS-157. The principal applicant only completes the Form DS-156K. Note: Forms DS-156, DS-156K and DS-157 must be completed in duplicate.
And then links on the page to the actual forms as follows -
DS-230 Part 1 (PDF)
IV-15 & Checklist
Form DS-156
Form DS-157
Form DS-156-K
Thanks for all your info guys, I'm not disputing it or anything that anyone else has done, I'm just confused....(easy at the moment!). I suppose the best option is... if in doubt, fill it out!

Maybe it's generally used by Embassies and Consulates in other countries, but London just skips it. They have been known to use their own version of the rules for other aspects of the visa process.
Although I am looking at the K1 pages for a few different US Embassies, and none of them mention DS-230 Part II.
The State Department's Guide to K1 Visas doesn't even say any part of DS-230 is needed, but that each Embassy will tell you of what additional information is required in addition to what the State Department requires.
Maybe it stems from this, and it is Embassy specific.

See 9 FAM 41.81 Procedural Notes, PN 3.2 (1), PN 3.3 a., and PN 3.3 b.
Like K's reference, it does not distinguish between parts I and II, so I agree that use of part II is embassy specific.

I had my K-1 interview at London a few weeks ago, and they didn't ask for part 2, so it doesn't seem to be required there at least.
I had it all filled out incase they wanted it though.
