I think it's perfectly understandable that 'they' are staging an open forum. As demonstrated on this very thread people are incredibly quick to conflate the religion with political extremism and acts of violence; what's the objection to 'their' putting forward a positive spin?

JVR I am just not that interested to be honest, I have done all the research I want to on Islam etc :( and let's see if I can organise one on Christianity here at the Trade Center.

I may be a Torygraph reader but I agree. Nothing wrong with having an Expo on Islam in the UK. Pity other religions would not be allowed the same freedom in Muslim countries.

Sure - no one suggested you turn up! It's one thing not to be interested; it's quite another to imply your disapproval with the event even taking place - that's all I was asking.

Meow - yes, perhaps. In fact this has taken place. In Mughal India, Jalaluddin Modk 'Akbar' was a great proponent of interfaith dialogue. His cabinet included those form the majority HIndu population and often invited Sunnis, Shias, Jesuits etc to open meetings.

But that's beside the point. What is the motivation behind organisations like IslamExpo? Do you seriously think it's a conversion drive? Get real. There are, no doubt, other serious prosyletising organisations around - H-ut-T springs to mind.

Your quip about Christianity at the WTC, well, that would be a sensible parallel if there were people going around calling for all Xtns to be locked up because of the actions of a few. Do you seriously see that happening?
