This thing about 'oh they don't allow us the same freedom' sometimes - not always - sounds a little petty. It's having the cake (moral high ground for being so open and magnanimous, letting these immigrants into our country and even letting them talk about themsleves in open fora) and eating it (there's not a great many of 'our lot' 'over there', but I think we should insist on being allowed to do over there what we let them lot do over here)

Correct me if I'm mistaken but I though that (in theory anyway) Islam acknowledges Moses, the Torah, the Talmud and the Jewish race, along with Christians as people of the book?

you've obviously never heard of internment in Northern Ireland!

The victim card is being played a bit too much by British Muslims. It is a fact the the UK is currently facing only 1 real terrorist threat and that is from Extremist muslims. There are muslims based in the UK who are plotting acts of murder. Society has to be protected against such acts.
The same would happen if it was catholics, hindus etc etc.

If your are talking Imperial heritage when it comes to Palestine then very difficult to blame the west.

The whole issue can never be solved until religion is separated from the state in all countries. So religion in general should be blamed for the problems in that region.

In any case you've conflated two separate debates - I'm not going to debate internment without trial. With your law background I wouldn't dare :eek: -- but I tried to demonstrate the irrelevence of the 'JesusExpo in Jumairah' argument and would welcome your comment on it.

There weren't a great many Jews in this part of the Gulf AIUI - those further west, well yes the pull of Israel and the push of the ghettos and mob violence post 48.

Of coures, I'm sure there was a movement of Jewish thought through these parts - for one, Judaism reached India before it reached WEstern Europe, and I imagine it travelled through the Gulf.
