Nice to hear the National Anthem being sung loudly by the fans in Cardiff last night, drowning out a few boos and stuff. Still only about half the players joining in though...........

Well the Chinese badminton pair who threw the game have been booted from the games and one of them is now saying that she is retiring from the sport.

The other 3 Asian pairs involved have also been booted.

The Chinese coach needs to be booted. I am not in favour of booting the S.Koreans because they were only responding to the Chinese.

This cannot be right. Two more golds, now placed 5th in the leader-board.

I'm proud of you, Team GB.

Another catastrophe for Team GB. Actually, I have question for you Mr. The Dean - is the level of disqualifications in these games normal? I've never shown any interest in the Olympics before so don't know what is normal, but it seems very high.

Anyway - to give you something to ponder, I though you'd like this. I'm not sure the equipment is of Olympic standard - The bike looks very basic to me.

What an amazing day at the games. Great day for team GB. So many brilliant performances.

Chris Hoy getting another gold and a world record (twice) with the sprint team. Shame for Pendelton and Varnish... and the pursuit looked incredible.
Canoe gold and silver.
Trap shooting - a machine! (love that when his funding was cut years ago one of the Maktoum's stepped in and funded him)
Judo - top result

and more....

Phelps - sorry The Dean - has performed again and that medley was such a great defence and the first man to retain the gold not once, but twice over 3 games....

Oh and Andy Murray won twice today too

Loving this already - can't believe the athletics has yet to start tomorrow...

Yeah - athletics, with Jess Ennis on the first tow days - just a few hours away.

I just so happened to be passing through London this week, my train came in at Stratford. Can't say I was overtly shocked by the amount of people in the station or on the tube. It was rush hour'ish time. Saw some pink phoneboxes.

My friends in London all seem to be working from home, the tube was almost empty in other parts of town.

Busiest day apparently and the drain is down the drain. You couldn't predict it. Oh, you could.

It's a shame that the Olympics seems to be having a negative effect on the London economy but with hindsight I guess that was predictable. Still a great thing for London and putting the country on the world stage though.

Dean - what's your prediction for the day? Think we can move to 4th place? When you think about it that would be a remarkable achievement - the countries that hold places 1 & 2 have a combined population of 1.4bn people and are the world's two largest economies. If you take all that into consideration TGB aren't so bad after all.

So should the gold medal winning British cycling 3 man team be disqualified cause they 'did not conduct themselves in the spirit of the Olympics':popcorn::scarper:

From Hinds:

We were saying if we have a bad start we need to crash to get a restart. I just crashed, I did it on purpose to get a restart, just to have the fastest ride. I did it. So it was all planned

Ennis.............. bloody hell............ fastest ever 100m hurdles in a heptathlon, and a British record for the individual event (assuming that counts?).......

Unbelievable crowd - I have never seen a stadium so full for the first morning session of an Olympics. "Central Line delays won't stop us....."

Millhouse - I think we can finish ahead of the Koreans who have already had some of their best events but not sure that it will be today........

Ennis below her PB in the HJ but leads after two events - and see Katarina Johnson-Thompson in third overall (HJ PB of 1.89m).

And Grainger-Watkins win gold in the rowing (can everyone stop banging on about Grainger now please?)..............

I just saw this. When you think about it, that is actually 1st place as the other two places are a done deal and a competition amongst themselves.

There must be some mistake surely - we can't go on like this!...

It was f****ng amazing down at the Olympics yesterday. Busiest day of the games so far, and no queuing for anything.

Our seats in the Hockey were right next to the GB supporters band. Made for a great atmosphere.

Only saw that guy online. However did see the French guy who won in action and at least he did seem to be a cut above the rest! Thought some I watched should have been thrown out for lack of action like the badminton players!!

No idea why I'm being described as miserable given that China, USA and Russia have many more potential medalists than we do.

China and USA are in a different league due to massive populations and high levels of investment in sport. Third is the only position that is actually up for grabs - so we are doing rather well. I take your point on Russia, but currently they are 7 gold medals from us.

China population- 1347million no 1 in the world
Russia Population- 143million no 9 in the world
USA population0 312million no 3 in the world

Britain population 62 million- no 22 in the world

i think we're doing pretty well for a smaller country! :p @ mentalist
