Too often the media shows such a warped vision of women that it is no wonder so many young women, and older ones too, have body issues and strange ideas of how to get on in life.

Who would you want your daughter to aspire to be like, Jessica Ennis or someone like Katie Price?

Jessica Ennis, but with Katie Price's breasts............

 Perhaps they should have asked a couple of those models to take the drugs test before they appeared.

And you accuse us guys of dragging this down by comparing women's bodies? And which one looks aneroxic?

Aneroxic? (sic)

Yes, you lot were started going on about the Spice Girls and the state of parts of their bodies. So often threads end up being no more than a discussion of the imperfections or otherwise of women's bodies, as if that is all a woman ever has to offer. Can you not see that it becomes rather tiresome?

The self-centred, blood diamond wearing, phone throwing, coke snorting Naomi Campbell is such a good role model...

Oh I should also have said I totally agree with Meow - even though I was perving over Tom Hiddleston earlier. Who is not a sporting role model he is however excellent at Shakespeare. Cultural seeee! lol

Seriously though it is rather annoying when all men can discuss is the state of the spice girls thighs, rather than the fact they are also vacuous and bland representations of "girl power".

Ah, but the point you are missing though, Meow, is that when some women present themselves to the world as just tits and arse (like the spice girls or any of the other Z list celebs who you love to criticise for doing nothing) then it is perfectly acceptable to judge them on that basis for they have invited it.

I wouldn't judge a women in business (or professional sport) on the same basis as they have presented themselves differently (unlike what you did with the ugly shot-putter). Likewise, the waste of space that is pretty boy David Beckham hardly invites me to judge him on his ability to solve the world's hunger crisis. Yet, somehow he feels qualified to speak with Cameron on the subject.

And to answer your final question: No, it never gets tiresome. I love women in all shapes, sizes and colours. I am fascinated by them and, in fact, with the exception of a couple of very close male friends, I pretty much have only female friends. I can talk to, and about women all day... just like they do.

Dunno anything about domestic arrangements but the place is called Altitude House (?) where the athletes acclimatize prior to prolonged periods in the Rockies as part of the 'Live High, Train Low' regime. I remember WADA sniffing around the place a few years ago.

I couldn't agree more. Especially when those who frequently take positions on the moral high ground slip off it...

Stunning Olympic Fact:

To make a three-man marathon team, Kenya had more than 300 runners who had made the IAAF A-qualifying entry time for the Olympic marathon to choose from. Compare that to, say, Great Britain, who only had three runners posting the qualifying times.

But it turns out Meow hadn't really slipped off the high ground as her target proved to be legitimate: what Mitt Romney might call retroactive righteousness.

Read it, tried to care and couldn't. He will be fine financially. If they take away gold medals for this the Olympic committee will be showing that the Olympics are about little more than cash at all levels. Top down.

..... or they will be reminding competitors that they should care more about the medals than the money?

[PS - I don't care either - never found Phelps to be likeable]
