He does have some valid points though. I actually usually give tips but as mentioned I really don't like if you are expected to give tips even if the food/service or whatever is really bad.

I actually came across a similar story but less evil than your friend’s. An Iraqi friend of mine once narrated it to me, it was back in the nineties after the first Gulf war. He said, he was once on a flight from Heathrow to Dubai, and next to him there sat a young British couple. The way they were talking to the air hosts who were Indians and the way they carried themselves were sheer snobbishness. He said I decided to chat them up and find out what they were made of, so I introduced myself as a Turkish expat working in Dubai. He said I then started talking about how terrible life in the Middle East is and all the rest of it. Soon enough they opened up and started complaining about the awfulness of the locals, etc. I was really annoyed he said. An hour before arriving the woman wanted to go to the toilet so she excused me to let her pass through as I was sitting on the aisle seat. When she left I looked at her partner and saw him looking away through the windows so I decided to be evil, I had a cup full of orange juice in my hand, I simply poured it all on her seat. She came back and sank straight into her seat. As soon as she started feeling her butt and realizing something was not right I turned my face away and kept fighting off a giggle.

Most people would hate these people's behaviour as much as the bastards who mistreat people in Dubai.

This thread has nothing to do with skin colour or race - it has everything to do with treating someone with respect, regardless as to their race or colour.

It's like war time atrocities ,torture and psychopathic dictators.
I am convinced that a very large segment of the Locals simply lack the part of the brain that can feel empathy and compassion. Just can't figure out any other reason for such sociopathic and psychopathic behaviour.

Seriously Boomhauer - it is known that Saudi practices Sharia law which in itself is extreme and it's also a given that wherever there are humans there is sociopathic and psychopathic behaviour within society, which thankfully is in the minority. However it's difficult for those of us living outside to get a grasp when watching these kinds of videos to ascertain whether it's real, staged and / or just rare instances made to look like it's the norm to behave like this in the community (which doesn't make it any better but put's it into perspective).

I've got friends who lived in Saudi some years ago and have heard horror stories but this sort of thing was never discussed hence not realising it is *the norm*

If this is normal behaviour - surely there is something seriously deranged about a society that behaves this way and it is seen as normal

Much as it pains me in my mind and in the very core of 'me' Shiva is correct. Very similar mental attitude to the nazis and the 'subhumans'. In fact the germans still have a word for it, such people are untermensch (subhuman) or fussvolk (footpeople).

I had a meeting the other day with an Indian business owner. Very westernised guy, loves golf a pint and a wee dram of an evening. Spent quite a while talking about Scotland and his last golf tour there etc.
in the middle of our business discussion he goes off on a rant about how you can't trust Northern Indians with any financial responsibilities as they just don't have the brains for it. Something about their heads he said, they are missing a bit that makes them trustworthy with money.

Not a huge surprise and I've seen it more than once but the mentality of people east of the Bosporus is utterly bizarre to the western mind. Whole nations, parts of nations and races are written off due to repugnant cultural norms.

We and half the world view western civilisation as somehow superior and there are times where I find it impossible not to hold that view. Particularly when it comes to the treatment of others and human rights
