European atheists, agnostics and/or non-believers in God:
Czech Republic 58%, France 54%, UK 50%, Sweden 48%, Denmark 45%, Belgium 43%, Netherlands 42%, Slovenia 35%,...so, roughly about 45% for Western Europe. Exceptions (mainly Roman Catholic countries): Italy 6%, Portugal 4%, Spain 15% etc
Shakh Your Bootie also gave you a Wiki link, which may be more up-to-date.

I wonder if that includes "non-practicing", "refuse to answer" and "other religious belief" - all of which are quite different to agnostic/ atheist/ non-believers.

Sorry BM but I think it is perfectly fair to point the finger of blame in the direction it is being pointed.

Re: Another Bloody Discgrace
Hmm, not sure I agree. I think all people have the propensity to be good and bad. I consider myself to a good person, but I have done some bad things in life.
I do agree it's not about race, colour, creed or religion. It's more about decisions at specific times in life. It's also about which side of the fence you happen to be on. Good and bad can be a question of perception.
OK, getting a bit too serious for me, back to sleep now.

Here you go:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_atheism
Our European pals are almost as enlightened as we are - thanks to the likes of Sartre, Heidegger, Neitzsche et al. This is fairly recent - a hundred years ago or so it was very, very different.
If you look at western art, literature, science and philosophy from around 1900 up to maybe even the 60s the loss of religious belief was quite traumatic to the Western psyche.

interesting link
thanks alot
well that is normal that religions becomes weaker along the time .. we have been told that by our prophet.
which explains when God kept sending many prophets in the past.
when ever one was send to guide people many things can happen:
1) they believe in him and follow him ... and after his death continue to follow him until they leave the original teachings and change the religion and then God sends another prophet.
2) they don't believe in him at all .. and in some cases some prophets were killed and other prophets to be send again.
3) the majority don't believe in him and they get punishment for not and the minority take over or leave the place to find a better one.
and many other stuff.
but we also believe that Mohammad is the last prophet and that Islam started as a "stranger" and it will go back as a "stranger" too ... however, there will always be a group of muslims who are representing the real islam until the doomsday.
we also believe that when Jesus come back to earth Many people will become Muslims that will ensure that islam gets into each house on the planet "peacefully"
but what graped my attention in the link you posted is the following
A 2004 survey by the CIA in the World Factbook estimates about 12.5% of the world's population are non-religious, and about 2.4% are atheists.[
how is that happening?
