Unless they've 'gone native' of course - a bit like John J. Dunbar perhaps, although in his case it was entirely positive! Dave aka the patronising Pom get a doctor.....i have officially lost my sense of humour!!!! so not finding it funny here anymore! |

The first and foremost thing you've got to remember about Britain is that it's cold and wet and dank and everyone spends fifty weeks of the year huddled around the fireside. Look at those PATHETIC crowds for the Premier League & the first round of the Six Nations and tonight's England v Switzerland game at Wembley.
The second important fact is that Britain is covered in concrete and what little remains of the countryside is at least two hours drive so even if you wanted to walk or cycle or swim (there are no beaches of course and the sea is too polluted anyway) you'd spend so much time getting there, you'd only have a half hour of daylight to do it in. The third important fact is that Britain has barely recovered from WW2 rationing and it's so expensive that nobody can afford to buy new cars/TV/go on holiday abroad anyway. The fourth important fact is that Britons have no sense of humour and in no circumstances are able to laugh at themselves. I'm sorry if the truth hurts but it's got to be said. Dave Ah well "saveme", you sound like you are about 70 so you want have to think about it much longer:thumbup: |

There's one thread for those people 'trapped' in OZ or NZ who hate it and can't wait to get back to UK. Then there's another thread for those people 'trapped' in UK who hate it and can't wait to escape to OZ or NZ. which ever thread you pick there are people who take it very seriously indeed and beware if you feel the urge to take the Mickey. I just had an amusing thought about all the people in transit between UK and NZ/OZ meeting up at Singapore or HK and asking each other where they are from and where they are going and why. Not exactly a meeting of like minds! |

What part of London you staying in Vim :D
Anyway, I'll be enjoying the dubious delights of a quaint hamlet called Chatham (pronounced Chayth-ham) on the North Kent coast for 3 weeks in June. With some jolly sidetrips to various boozers and, er, Amsterdam ... Just long enough to confirm everything I know and get back home for another 2 years of thinking myself lucky I met an Aussie. ;) |

Kent is a funny place. Some of the most stunning countryside there alongside some of the ugliest bits too!
