The Allies fought in summer too, in the North African campaign
the outside skin of a tank would get so hot you could fry eggs
on it but men still fought in those conditions. In 1941 there
was exactly ONE room (not building) in the whole of Baghdad
that was air conditioned. That was the official reception room
at the British Embassy and the AC was installed to allow the
Ambassador to greet guests when wearing his full regalia
without passing out from heat stroke.

Hmm, I wonder if Mixi's aircon has been installed backwards, almost
uniquely he seems to find Paris unbearably hot, when everyone else
finds it fine - if his aircon was cooling the outside and warming his
room, then it might all be explained...

I alluded to this in another post, and it seemed to woosh above his
head. Maybe he got it now!
I actually used to go to the gym in that building when I lived in
Philly.
There was a recent case here in Barrow-in-Furness.

Evaporative cooling is much worse. But hardly anyone ever gets sick
from A/C or evap cooling, simply because it is extremely rare for such
systems to become contaminated with anything.
They don't seem to worry about the constant off-gassing of furniture and
other items in their homes during the winter when they seal everything
tightly against outside cold.

Birthday suit? How many men posting here have a suit never mind have a

Oh, I have several. I'm not kidding when I say I haven't worn them for a
while though. When I perform, I usually have to wear some kind of
uniform, but I usually choose a non-matching jacket to go with the
trousers. I prefer not to wear a jacket whenever possible, wearing a
snazzy shirt. The opera houses must be _appalled_!

I have a suit, I've worn it twice in the last 3 years, I fear I really
need to get a new one, which is a real waste of money, but it's not
that great a suit now.
Jim.

I didn't say it was the most stupid thing.

The heat is generated mainly by the customers.

So you are a rich eccentric.
It' was maximum 11 DegC here today, opening a window was more than
sufficient to lower the temperature.

What sort of films get imported to Europe, then? I'm looking at the top 10
U.S. films of 2004, and none of them have anything to do with the
military.

Maybe the thermostat relies on internal temperature in another part of
