Try catching a plane from Charing X. This means nothing.

there are several in similar building, but I don't think any have
outside tables? The streets are narrow and its cooler inside.
"La Caballo Rojo" is my favourite there.

No, the Granada, Tooting. My old local cinema, it was years
before I stopped being disappointed when other cinemas were not
like palaces.

interior patio, few if any outside windows, fountain, read
Barberas post for more ideas on cooling houses without self
defeating aircon.

Record highs (a bit out of date) :-
Madrid 39, Barcelona 36, London 34,Rome 40 Palermo 42 Seville
(pretty much the hottest) did 49 *once*, I've only experienced
40 in the Seville area (inland Andalucia).

Even Seville average highs are only 36.

Of course its different in US, NY 39 New Orleans 39 Oklahoma and
Kansas City made Mixis number (just).

you told me people don't acclimatise a while ago. Which statement

that is a silly argument in itself. Think about what will happen
if the whole world tries to use aircon for cooling. Think why US
cant even think about Kyoto.

explain why a siesta is more incompatible with "modern life" than
sleeping during darkness.

yep, plenty of poople buy the US way, hopefully more sensible
approaches will prevail in the end, I read some right wing
americans are now against gas guzzlers, if they can understand,
anybody can.
