Re: NEOM Potential Job
Hi all,
I have recently completed two interviews with NEOM. Both were very positive with the invite for the second interview coming quickly after the first interview.
During the second interview the department director noted that HR can be slow so it might take a few weeks to hear back. It has now been 4 weeks. Is this is line with the normal timelines or could this be a sign of being unsuccessful?
Thanks

Seems to be a drawn out process in general from what I understand. Did they give you a link to formally apply for the job? From there they should request more details about you (Passport, Photos of your education certificates, pre-medical questionnaire)

NEOM Potential Job
Good morning! My husband has secured a position on the Neom project with Bechtel and we as a family are on board with a move. However yesterday he received an email saying that staff mobilisation had been temporarily suspended which has rattled us a bit. Just wondered if anyone knows whether this is common and if this in fact means there might not be a position for him. Grateful for any insights to put our minds at ease
thank you in advance

Re: NEOM Potential Job
Hi Neomies (or is it Neomites, or Neomes? Lol )
Hope you don't mind me asking another question relating to a potential move, but cant seem to find the answer after searching...
I've been in the UAE for 5 yrs now and on AED 40k monthly (eqv. to almost exactly SAR 40k). It's a Govt job so 40k all in, no breakdown by accommodation, bonus, etc. and which by all accounts is a good whack! However like most places, the salary has been stagnant for 5 yrs and costs have been generally increasing, and especially that my wife and I have a bambino now.
I'm considering a potential move to Neom as there's a job advertised that fits my skillset perfectly, however it has 'Lead' in the title and from what i can read, there may not be much of an uplift to make the move worthwhile as 'Lead' type roles are capped at around SAR 40k.
Is this true or is there potential to negotiate 25%-30% increase (to SAR 50-52k)?
The flipside is that accommodation/food seems to be free which is a huge chuck saved.
But the other flipside is currently we live in a 1300sqft apartment which even now is getting tight with all the baby gear, and from what i can see the Neom apartments (cabins) seems to be much smaller... What type/size of accommodation would we be eligible for?
Another flipside is here (UAE) the job has no performance/bonus/end of service/gratuity scheme, but Neom does.
Lots of other things to consider (lifestyle in Dubai is great, so much to see and do every week; huge choice of nurseries around for the little one, etc…)
Just seeing if anyone else has made a similar move and are happy with it?
Many thanks!

Thank you christmasoompa Trailing_Hubby
I might perhaps just put my application in and discuss these particulars with whichever manager interviews me. Although I'm sure they might promise the world if they want me there, lol.

You should anticipate moving to a 400sqft cabin, and assume it's permanent. Family cabins have a long wait list and the build program is unlikely to match demand. Plus there will be many families with multiple young children/tweens/teens currently in the smaller cabins, so a baby likely the lowest priority for allocating a family sized cabin (around 800-1000sqft I believe). They also come at a cost (4000 SAR/month?).
It could be viewed as an an opportunity to declutter away from all the consumerism we typically follow, especially with young children. Some people still bring everything they own, and expand outside their cabin with storage or use their cars/trailers/caravans (seriously). Alternatively you put things in storage, but the cost is likely more than selling everything and buying it again when you need.
In my case it was actually quite refreshing to have a reset and go back to essentials in a suitcase, then buy whatever I "needed" here.
I wouldn't be too fixated on the Lead/Specialist/Manager title, as this will be based on your current earnings. Neom offer will include an uplift, which is typically 20-30%. Usually no ability to negotiate on this. They're more likely to adjust the title to suit the salary bracket you fall into. They would rather hire the right candidate than worry about title and marginal costs.
Hope this helps answer your questions.

Tbh, I've heard good things about the lifestyle at Neom. Not as hectic/fast paced as Dubai for sure, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Decluttering would definitely be a good idea, but i think 400sqft might be a bit of a squeeze for us....
Of course I could just come myself and work and come back home (UAE) on the weekends, which I'm sure many people do.
Or hopefully come back on a Thurs night and wfh Friday if 1 day a week wfh is allowed?
Thanks also about the 'title' advice and uplift info.
As mentioned, maybe I'll put in a speculative application and see from there exactly what the offer on the table is.

And you might get the TCC Hotel which is a small hotel room with a single hanging wardrobe and some draws for socks and smalls etc ..
I think the estimated size of the room is 4×6m .. definitely can't swing a cat in there .

It would be best to come solo and evaluate if you feel your family would be comfortable.
WFH on Friday is not necessary since it's the weekend in KSA.
