I think it was a set-up. That was no accident. There was a hit out on those cats. I can smell the conspiracy from here. Heba and her brother are somehow involved. It's all very frightening really.

I really think they should rotate these folks (maybe they do and we don't know it) out of being COs. They really are like hardened homicide or narcotics cops who see nothing but the worst life has to offer day in and day out. People trying scam this or that - playing the odds that they can skate by and get a visa. Hang around in the NG long enough and you know it happens. There are an awful lot of folks who'll do almost anything to get out of their countries. It's no wonder the COs are so awful.
But, just like cops are told to go on leave or given desk jobs or sent for counseling after seeing life's seamier side one too many times, so, too, should these COs be relieved from time to time. Not only would the get a break from the bad apples, they'd come back with refreshed attitudes. Instead they keep interviewing and interviewing and getting harder and more cynical by the minute putting honest USCs and our spouses/fiances in demeaning situations through no fault of our own because they can't tell the difference any longer. We're just trying to give them what they want and get on our way and yet they treat us like criminals just because we happened to fall in love with someone from outside our borders.
Let's hope we can all make it out of this crazy BCIS/DoS world with our dignity intact.

When she couldn't find anything "wrong" (like Patty's so-called wrong tax returns that another embassy might have been just fine with) she just took something out. Khalid said the K3 woman was very intelligent and was married to a Moroccan man who is a US citizen working on Wall Street. Do you really think they would have left out the most important thing? I thin it stinks, specially after the crap she had just pulled over the tax returns. People may think we are exaggerating when we bitch and moan about our consulates, but they really are treacherous. I've dealt with Casa myself, eventually they give you what you want, but they torment you and demean the entire time.

Wow! That's pretty impressive. So you're learning to speak and write it? Which one is easier?

I figure in another 5 or 6 years I should be pretty good and I may even understand someone speaking Spanish OTHER than my wife. For some strange reason I find old people easier to understand. And I used to use babelfish and the online translators but as I have progressed, I find that their spanish is worse than mine. Useful learning tools though.

Rene -
That was, effectively, what the Moscow Consulate did to my wife. They knew damn good and well that she wouldn't have "proof of US health insurance" with her, because it wasn't listed on the "bring this stuff with you when you come for your interview" list. So they asked for it to DELAY granting the visa. It seems to be all about delay. I wonder if their performance reviews are based on some sort of quota system. Food for thought.

Leslie,
Thank you so much for posting the details of the interview. I'm going to make sure I bring extra copies of everything with us when the time comes! I'm surprised she didn't come out of her office and say the kitchen sink was missing - go home and get it!!! :-)
You're a dear :-)
