Not quite. The same would be true for Spurs if (when) they finish 4th.

I think Hodgson is a good appointment. He has had previous tournament experience with Switzerland and he is a better tactician than Redknapp. Most of his managerial appointments have been successful and if we are going to have an Englishman in charge then we probably have the right one. It's a shame I thought Pep Gaurdiola was going to be the next Spurs boss briefly. |

I noticed an interesting statistic on his time as Finland manager - the win % was fairly average but all the wins came in qualifying matches and all the defeats in friendlies. |

He is fairly entertaining as a sort of pantomime character but as England manager I think he'd be a disaster.

Oh, well. I don't suppose City are going to be uninterested at the Toon after all.
Pity that, but maybe worth it to see ManUre f*** up. |

It matters not, it's a non-job. Any England manager will get the team to a championship (possibly limping), then exiting in the QF (possibly on pens). Harry would achieve that, Mourinho would achieve that. It matters not.

Hodgson got national teams such as Switzerland and Finland to punch above their weight. If he can do that with England then we may get out of the group of a major tournament. We will have our work cut out this summer. They open with France and that will be a tough game for a team who only managed one win at the World Cup against Slovenia. Please don't get me started on the Algeria game............or the US of A. |

0-2 though. They couldn't break Cisse. |

Obviously he doesnt want Chelski to win the Champions League in case Newcastle finish 4th thereby stopping them from playing in the CL. Obviously he would prefer the Toon to qualify for the CL but that means they would have to beat Citeh on Sunday and that would give Utd a chance to win their 20th title. A draw doesnt hurt the Toon against Citeh but again helps Utd. A loss to Citeh probably hands them the EPL. I think he needs to down a few Newcastle Brown Ales before he makes a decision come Sunday. |

BTW I predict that Mikel will get a retrospective ban from the FA, hopefully before the Cup final. Bastard. |

Alan Pardew, "He {Chiote} has about a nine inch gash and about 400 stitches. It's just a scratch to him. He'll be fine for Sunday".
Hmmm. Maybe we'll get a draw. |

Keeping my fingers crossed for Norwich to put in a good performance at the Emirates on Saturday. I don't want to rely on Bayern Munich winning the Champions League. |

As I've said before, I'd rather we finished 5th so then I don't have to bite my fingernails until May 19th. I've had enough thrills for one season. |

One less than Papiss Demba Cisse. :) I look forward to the latter's future role as failed caretaker manager and TV pundit. (En francais c'est sur). |
