Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread
Why the hell would Redknapp goto 'Toon?
He's lived at Sandbanks in a gorgeous house for ages now with his missus and dogs, close to both London and Pompey. We're flying high(-er than Newcastle) with a new chairman in the Prem, new ground in the works and a team that Arry's built himself, practically from scratch. Next to no pressure from the fans, maybe some unrealistic ones, if we're not relegated we're honestly a pretty happy bunch! Only our 4th ever season in the Prem remember. Can't say so much for the chairman.... =) The Newcastle job may come with more money and transfer budget, but a hit/miss squad and LOTS of pressure. Am I right? =) Got ya wish though, he's gone... looks like BSA lost some weight during that 8 months too! Shinkansen |

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread
Hiya Loved this thread.......for the first time in 6 months it made me think about home. How we all miss going to the footie matches to watch the Toon Army!!! Think you may be right about how big the geordie thing could be!!! it is all about the geordie passion (sense of humour, wit, stamina, great ability etc etc) you will never find that anywhere else!!! Love Cananda it is my home but always a geordie by heart and a big Newcastle supporter!!!

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread
Meh, least 'Arry came out today and distanced himself from the job. Mind you, he also has been known to say:-
"I need to leave the game for a bit and recharge my batteries" shortly before leaving to Scumhampton. ... and Betfair went nothing short of beserk to the tune of £13m before he went back to Pompey again. I won't believe anything the man says till someone else is holding a 'Toon scarf over their head at St James'. He's a lazy twitcher and it's too big of a commute for him. Someone said if you lay on a helicopter tho.... he might just be swung!!! =) You can 'ave Tony Adams if you want? He fits the bill!!! "In a job" and British. Think Hughesy will leave?? Shinkansen |
Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread
Latest rumours:(1) Kevin Keegan's been sighted in Toon and (2) David Moyes has been "mentioned".
<salt, pinch> Edit: a lot of $$ going on Mark Hughes as well. (9-2). |

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread
'Arry's having a chat with Chris Mort in Toon today. The Grauniad says he's been offered 5 million a year for 4 years plus a charter jet between the south coast and Tyneside.
Not a bad screw that. |

Not a bad screw that. What do they see in him? Hes alright, but no way is he worth £5M a year, and I cant see him turning Newcastle into anything its not already. I tend to think of him in the same mould as Sam Allardice, so more of the same then? |

Ashley was unwilling to give Allardyce any transfer money (Sam was appointed by Fat Freddy, the bane of the Toon for the last 10 years...think Harold Ballard and the Maple Leafs). Given the debacle of Sam signing Barton and spending 6 million on Enriques then benching him, plus that Sam had lost the room by playing just about everybody out of position etc etc., even if it's more of the same, it's more of it the way the Ashley/Mort want it. Apparently. |
Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread
Can I just pour some water on all that furor?
'Arry has indeed flown North today, but with Peter Storrie in tow, our CEO and the man behind our transfer dealings. We have long been interested in George Boateng of Middlesbrough and by all accounts should be coming Sarf anytime soon. This trip I believe is to wrap everything up. Add to this that we're playing Sunderland on Sunday..... and Joe Jordan was on Setanta Sports today saying that there's still been no contact from Newcastle officially.... and well, I see nothing sinister in his flying North!! Just good news today if you're a Geordie Arry-'ater or a Pompey fan! The papers tend to jump to a few conclusions. Shinkansen |

Shinkansen Oh, and whether 'Arry is there or not; please kick some mackem butt on Sunday. |
Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread
Oh dear, It looks like a done deal.
Don't blame me shinkansen, it most certainly wasn't what I would've done. I think 'Arry's a Geordie. 'Arry Redknapp's Black and White Army. It's going to take a bit of getting used to, that. Well, beat the shit out of the mackems, and we'll have a go at Manure. You never know, eh? |
